Battle of Flamborough Head image
editHi, thanks for the new Battle of Flamborough Head image- one of these days I'll get round to trying vector graphics, honest. I see just one serious problem with the new image- misspelling of Spurn Head- and one minor niggle- the new version needs to be displayed larger than normal Wikipedia size (say about 400px across) for the place-names to be legible. Turning the image to put east at the top was a good idea though; helps a lot with the place-names. Cheers, David Trochos (talk) 23:18, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- (A cheeky PS: there's also a little purple dot missing in the middle of Jones's squadron) David Trochos (talk) 13:00, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- An even cheekier PPS: I downloaded Inkscape had had a go at it myself. The result is presently in Wikipedia images, not Commons. David Trochos (talk) 14:47, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Your translated maps of the island of Saint-Martin
editGood afternoon.
I saw you translated two of my maps of the island of Saint-Martin (File:Saint-Martin_map_detailed-en.svg and File:Saint-Martin_map_simple_en.svg) and I'm glad of that.
Unfortunately, to create my two maps I've drawn few years ago I used old paper maps of the French Institut Géographique National which are still under copyright, so this means that our four maps represent derivative works without permission. Because of this I will ask their deletion in a few days and give you this notification in order for you to have the time to save a copy of your maps in your computer, if you want.
I'm preparing completely new versions of them, using this time free data and of better quality. They will be shortly available on Commons and I will notify it to you when they are.
Sorry for the mess. Greetings. Sting (talk) 18:11, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
In what form do you want credit for use of your image
editThank you so much for this excellent image: File:Standard_Model_of_Elementary_Particles.svg. I am creating a derivative copy to use on a science display in Second Life. Should I credit you as "MissMJ" or by some other name? I will include the page URL so that others can find the original here at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Standard_Model_of_Elementary_Particles.svg Questionic (talk) 13:26, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Problem with: Standard_Model_of_Elementary_Particles-de.svg
editHi there, first of all I want to thank you for the great work with File:Standard_Model_of_Elementary_Particles-de.svg
I have one problem with the file: In the Heading it says "3 Generations of matter (Fermions)", but in the table you name Leptons, Quarks and Bosons. Bosons are not Fermions, so the Headline could be misleading. Maybe you could place the word Fermions as a headline to both Quarks ans Leptons. Greets --Dschoni (talk) 11:31, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:06, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Your String Theory Diagram
editHi MissMJ,
I am an embroidery artist and I am half way though an embroidered re-working of your String Theory Diagram. I am thinking of exhibiting this work, and wanted to credit you. I would be happy to send you pics of what I am doing, but wondered how you would like to be credited? I could use your wikipedia name if you like?
Let me know, and thanks for your diagram, it was exactly what I was looking for.

Medieval Coats of Arms
editGreetings! I would like to ask for your help in creating a vector image of the coat of arms of Dukagjini.
You may find a scanned image here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/hu/5/55/Dukagjin.png (I apologize for the low resolution). The actual background is supposed to be dark green of the kind you would see on the Saudi flag.
Here's a colored image, but you should be advised of the wrong background color: http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn267/luangjakova/StemaeLekDukagjinit.jpg.
Another flag/emblem you may consider is that of the Principality of Albania (1190): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/sq/b/b7/Flag_of_the_Principality_of_Arber.JPG.
Thank you. --Getoar TX (talk) 04:33, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
File:Age of Consent - Global.svg
editHello. I have a note regarding this file. The legal age of consent in Bahrain is 21, not 16 as the map shows [1]. Cheers. Mohamed CJ (talk) 01:06, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! Although I initially created this map based on verified information available at the time, I am not interested in keeping it up to date. Anyone is free to update the file, which is fairly easy to accomplish using a simple text editor. If the map still needs updating and you do not feel comfortable doing so yourself, please place a request over at the Map Workshop. Thank you! — MissMJ (talk) 03:39, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
Automatic categorization of JG Aksara Jawa template
editHi MissMJ
I was reorganizing pictures and categories of Category:Javanese script when I noticed that pictures with Template:JG Aksara Jawa cannot be moved from Category:Javanese alphabet. I was told that you added Automatic categorization for Template:JG Aksara Jawa in 2011, and I was hoping if you could consider removing it, or modify it so that files could be moved after they are automatically put in Category:Javanese alphabet. Thank you Alteaven (talk) 10:43, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! Whoever told you that I added automatic categorization to that template should probably learn how to properly read edit histories. ;) The only thing I've ever done to it is fix a broken link. The autocategorize feature has been in that template since its creation in 2007 by Aviator.
- However, it's a pretty easy fix. If you're looking to remove everything from Category:Javanese alphabet for the purposes of deleting the category and replacing it with Category:Javanese script, simply edit everything between the <includeonly> </includeonly> tags in the template to say instead of . Everything will then be automatically resorted (not immediately, however). Any other categories into which you'd like to include images tagged with that template should also go between those tags. For more information on the topic, please see Help:Category#Adding a category by using a template.
- Happy editing! —MissMJ (talk) 03:31, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
Copyright status: File:Javanese la.svg
editThis media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Javanese la.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Standard Model drawing equivalent for MSSSM
editThanks a lot for the very nice picture of the standard model! Do you have by any chance a similar drawing for the MSSM? I imagine it would be flipped/mirrored, the names changed appropriately (and with tildas on the particle symbols and no masses). I tried once to make if myself but I am really not good at this. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2001:1458:202:73:0:0:102:5EDC (talk) 10:33, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Standard Model Drawings
editHello MissMJ; I appreciate your Standard Model drawings, and I see them on multiple Wiki pages in the Cosmology series. I also see that copies are available in .svg and .png formats, but I am not able to edit these easily. Would it be too much to ask for copies in format that preserves layers for editing in Photoshop or GIMP? I have crazy "kook" physics idea for extension of Standard Model that would be easy to present via editing your drawings (essentially adding mirror image of quark rows together with gluon and higgs as mirror plane).
