Orta Isola San Giulio

edit
Image deletion warning Orta Isola San Giulio has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Ciao --Civvi 19:02, 18 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Please don't add this images into generic categories such as Category:Maps. They'll become overcrowded and useless for search. Category:Maps of Italy is enough. --EugeneZelenko 01:56, 25 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Continuous deletion of cetegories

edit

Hi Mac,

I do not want to play category addition-removal games with you. If you delete a category namely from Image:VeniceCanalGrandeMariaSalute.jpg please make sure that any reasonable category remains. Moreover I would love if you give an explanation for your continuos removal of the categories I've added. That's what the commenting line is for.

Kind regards Andreas Tille 07:37, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mac,

would it be possible to find a reasonable category for Image:VeniceSantApolloniaCloister.jpg. This would be great. Andreas Tille 20:23, 22 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Categorie, Pagine e Foto

edit

Ciao e a presto. —Mac9 08:08, 17 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Grazie tante, Mac: questi sono esattamente i lavori in cui mi annodo (a Napoli si direbbe <m'arravuglie>, a Roma <me 'mpiccio>) - insomma se qualcuno mi mette in ordine gli resto debitrice :) --Lalupa 22:34, 17 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Grazie per l'informazione. --Zinn 16:55, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Trentino-South Tyrol

edit

Hello there, thanks for your message. Well I don't want to get into a naming argument. However the name Trentino-Alto Adige is the italian name, you have to take into account that German is also an official language there. Therefore, I could as well argue that the category should be called Trentino-Südtirol. And the Category South Tyrol should be named Südtirol in that case. However I refrained from taking that step, because I think that naming it the english way South Tyrol would be most neutral. I understand the Italian regions are named in Italian, however if you look at the Austrian ones, they are kept in English such as Styria and not Steiermark. So I'm a bit at a loss here. If you want to push for Trentino-South Tyrol to be listed as Trentino-Alto Adige, I will have to plead in that case that for South Tyrol to be listed as Südtirol. The language sensitivities should be addressed. I hope you can understand my concern. Gryffindor 11:18, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

That's what I thought. I really appreciate from you that you understand my concerns. Again, I don't want to be difficult or even start a naming-argument, far from it. I just want to be careful about the sensitivities of the language issue so that both sides can agree on a solution. And since I knew that both ways, Italian (Trentino-Alto Adige) as well as German (Trentino (Trient)-Südtirol) are both official in Italy, I thought that at least having it in English (Trentino-South Tyrol) would be the most neutral name. But I agree with you that for example Tuscany can be listed as Toskana, I wonder also why the Austrian states such as Steiermark are listed in English, but that is another issue, I would have to talk to the users there first what they think. In any case, what would you suggest now as a solution, I am open for everything... ciao (is correct?-) Tschüs in German :-) Gryffindor 11:51, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I was just about to ask you the same thing. It's not the most elegant solution, but I think we can agree on this. Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, is that fine? Gryffindor 12:05, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
The new category will be "Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol". e perfeto, multo grazie. if you need help with redoing it, let me know, glad to help. ciao... Gryffindor 12:17, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Vivissime felicitazioni, Mac !! (c'è una category:children, no?)

Cachoeirinha

Hi, I reverted your edit in Image:PE-mapa-Cachoeirinha.png, because there are two diferent citys in Brazil know as Cachoeirinha. The map and the satellite photo do not refer to the same one. --Patrick-br msg 12:10, 29 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Category:Salta

edit

Ciao! I wanted to know why where you removing from the Salta Category images of the city of Salta (for instance Image:Salta-Capital-ColonialCentre-2005-P3130046.jpg) leaving them orphan. I would really prefer to have them back in the category. Mariano 16:02, 30 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure why it would be better to have the images within a page instead of in probably more than one category? Categories are flexible and herarchical, and you don't need to edit 2 pages when uploading an image (you just add the category). I thought it was commons's policy to have the pictures in Categories, and the such articles where optional. Yes, I would really prefer to have the images also in categories (no extra space needed), as its a lot easier for me to find them. Thanks for your understanding. Good wiking, Mariano 08:31, 5 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
