Thanks for uploading File:Owner The Haxby Partnership.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
Really pleased to see your work on Grand National colours entered in wikipedia. Do you have an svg file for the colours of Mr Raymond Mould? These were worn by Bindaree in 2002. Green with white stars on body and sleeves, white star on green cap. A user also added an SVG for your Mr Stanley Clark colours for Seagram the 1991 winner but alas I had to remove it as the SVG depicted red cross belts instead of the white that were worn. Captainbeecher (talk) 17:53, 17 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks. I have been adding collapsible 1-2-3 images to all of the UK and Ireland Group/Grade race pages but there is no logical place for this to go for the Grand National (individual year pages rather than a page listing all previous winners) so that resides only on the French version of the page https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_National_(course_hippique)

Thanks for the tip on the Eric Parker colours worn by Seagram - I have uploaded a second image

I would be delighted to take the 1-2-3 Grand National colours back prior to 1988 (the start of Internet horse racing results data), especially if you can provide information on the colours worn by the 2nd and 3rd! (JockeyColours (talk) 07:38, 18 April 2015 (UTC))Reply

en:California Chrome has new silks... all gray (or, um "chrome") with a faint "CC" logo on the hood, and "CHROME" on the front of the jockey's silks (see facebook winner's circle image [1] or [2] and a small touch of red trim on the jockey's visor...need an update. Owner is "California Chrome LLC" see here Montanabw (talk) 05:08, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the delay, but struggling to get Wikipedia to maintain the text in a certain font. It's still not right - the SVG displays ok, but the thumbnail transforms the font into something much more wiry. Sorry, best I can do for now. Will try again... (JockeyColours (talk) 21:56, 4 February 2016 (UTC))Reply

Not too bad. I'm not worried about the font at thumbnail size. But the owners say the silks color is "silver" - i.e. "chrome", ( :-P ) Any way to lighten up that gray a bit? I'll pop this into the article and if you can lighten it, you just re-upload the image, right? Montanabw (talk) 22:07, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, JockeyColours!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Heads up

edit

Just a heads up that I moved your top three finishers silks images to their own category, Category:Racing silks of top three finishers. There were a couple images with just two sets of silks that I put in there too, figured still "top three." I'm also going to create a category for the 5-6 images that were larger groups of silks. There isn't much that can be done to further refine the category, really, but where I can move a few dozen out of the 7000-some images there, it's all good. (Be tricky to alphabetize, as many titles start with "owner" or "Mr" or "Mrs"). Montanabw (talk) 05:32, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
