US Rank SVGs
editHi Ipankonin, I was looking at your excellent SVGs of US Army ranks, but spotted one (albeit very minor) oversight with respect to the numbers---they are off: i.e. Image:US-OF3.svg really should be at either Image:US-OF2.svg or Image:US-O3.svg... thanks to the different numbering systems of US and NATO. ButterStick 07:50, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Probably not you, of course. Perhaps a bot should do it. ButterStick 04:05, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
SVG versions of User:Gsl maps
editHi Ipankonin, I just wanted to congratulate you on the work you've done with vectorizing the Waterloo maps. I notice that you've attributed your SVG map Image:Battle of Waterloo.svg to me. I would be happy if you claimed authorship of it. I did, after all, release my version into the public domain and you did all the work on this one. If, on the other hand, you don't want to be associated with it, that too is fine -- I don't mind carrying the blame. I originally worked on Commons and en.wikipedia as User:Gsl but stopped in April last year. Thanks again. Gsl 2.0 01:39, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Heraldic vector graphic creation
editI see that you have done a lot of work creating Vector graphics of Heraldic devices. I am quite a heraldry buff, and I've got to say that you've done a great job; I'm really impressed. On a related note, I have images of a Heraldic device, a shield, derived from the Coffin family (Devonshire, England) Coat of Arms. The Coffin family's manor, called Portledge, is also a School in New York, United States, which was founded by a member of the Coffin line. The School has adopted the Coffin Shield as its own, and as a main contributer to various Wikipedia articles concerning the school I am very interested in using a Vector graphic version of the Shield.
As a person interested in Heraldry, you would most likely find the Shield fascinating; it is of a somewhat rare design, and uses a few elements rarely seen in English Heraldry. Would you mind at least looking over the non-Vector images, and consider perhaps creating Vector versions? I'd really appreciate it. You can find them at User:RideABicycle/Imagelist
Thanks, RideABicycle 04:12, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well there are several blazons for various eras. I am in possession of New England Historical and Genealogical Register from the mid 1800s, which contains extensive information with regards to the Coffin arms. The oldest blazon I have been able to find throughout my research has been a crusade-era "Ar. a chevron between three mullets pierced sable", although there are older accounts which describe a "star miraculously emblazoned on Marlet's shield". I have a document with the more modern blazons, but I sadly cannot find them. I shall look later today, and respond with their details. RideABicycle 15:19, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a bundle for those pieces. I had forgotten (super sorry) to look up the blazons, but here they are: The earlier version, which is of the more ancient line, is Argent a Chevron between 3 Mullets Sable. Another that I was able to find, of unknown (old) origin: Azure 3 Bezants between 5 cross crosslets in Saltire Or. However, the one that I am most interested in and you drew up is Azure 4 Bezants between 5 cross-crosslets in Saltire Or. I find it interesting that the images I was able to get were bottony crosslets instead of cross crosslets. This is from a mid-1800s source referencing the Coffin family Heraldic dictionary, so I feel that it is reasonably reliable. Also, if you're curious, I found the blazon for the crest: Or, a martlet between two cinque foils Ar. slipped and leaved vert . RideABicycle 04:32, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well to be honest I really don't know which (cross or bottony) crosslets are appropriate; I don't have any images older than the early 1900s so it's hard to know what the most common usage is. If you wouldn't mind I'd really appreciate it if you could use the cross crosslets as well. Thanks so much. RideABicycle 13:23, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks tons I really appreciate your pieces! RideABicycle 00:02, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Hello. I contact you because I have a problem with this image: I cannot see the lines of partition. I guess it's a display problem, although I have the last version of Mozilla Firefox. Can you confirm me that the lines are correct in the original image? The arms should look like this : [3] Thank you for your answer. Regards, BrightRaven 21:08, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your change. I think the same should apply to : Image:Hainaut-Bavaria Arms.svg. BrightRaven 12:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Excuse me for reminding you my request. Do you think the change is not justified in Image:Hainaut-Bavaria Arms.svg? I think it is, for the same reason: in quarters 2 and 3, we cannot see that the quarter is quartered without the lines of partition. Regards, BrightRaven 22:51, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for the change. BrightRaven 23:46, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Pall reversed
editThank you for your wonderful heraldic images! I've used several of them on en.WP in the various heraldry articles. I wonder if you could create a pall revered, if you're not too busy. I would like to use it in the German heraldry article to illustrate a Göpel in that language. Feel free to have a peek here to see what I'm up to. Thanks again! Your work?
editHi,
I have recently added files to Wikimedia Commons. I'm afraid I might have used something you worked on during the process. Could you please check the sleeve insignia here, and let me know if that is the case? And if so, how would you like to it to be referenced to you or your work?
I got the sleeve off one of the US Navy insignia files, probably this one.
