You're now a filemover
Welcome, Dear Filemover!
Hi INeverCry/Archive 1, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one.
- Please do not tag redirects as {{Speedy}}. Other projects, like InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
- Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.
Thx
Thank you for the file rename of File:Upload Wizard User Test 9 - User D.ogv! :) The Helpful One 18:58, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome. :) INeverCry 19:10, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Heusden schandpaal
Hello, You changed the name of this file which was incorrectly named as a schandpaal (pillory). The borderstone however never was intended as a pillory. A similar borderstone stands near my house and is mentioned in the dutch monumentregister as a borderstone. Unfortunately user Foroa keeps reverting the improvements without any good reason, and numerous good reasons on the talkpage why it can not be a pillory, are simply ignored with the poor reason that the original name of the file was right. Can you please help reasoning with this user? Thank you. LeeGer (talk) 15:50, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- What's needed here is a reliable source supporting either pillory or borderstone. Otherwise the dispute can't be resolved. The blog reference is not a reliable source. A reference from an official area website, or an area newspaper website, etc, is what's required. In the absence of a reliable ref, the alternatives are to keep it as it is with the dispute notation in place, or to reach consensus on a neutral name. INeverCry 20:59, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- I do have a photograph of a similar borderstone on my mobile phone. Just can't get it uploaded as linking it to this laptop won't work. It's exactly the same kind of pole, with the same coat of arms and the same year. This one is listed on the goverment monumentregister as a borderstone. See here (dutch). LeeGer (talk) 05:30, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Since this file is now protected, you will have to contact User:Foroa or another admin about re-naming it. I'm not an admin, so there's really not much that I can do. INeverCry 19:04, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Phyllobius argentatus - Polydrusus sericeus
Please rename the File File:Silberner Grünrüssler (Phyllobius argentatus).jpg. Its 100% Polydrusus and not Phyllobius. The actual name provides false information which is already spreading throughout the wikis. If you are not sure on Polydrusus sericeus either make it Polydrusus cf. sericeus or Polydrusus ssp. (or something better fitting - like proposed in the rename template..) keeping it with the definitivly wrong name is no option.
Regards --Aiwok (talk) 12:30, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for renaming this image. Could you help to make this file appear correctly in Category:Podmaniczky–Vigyázó mansion, Budapest and Category:Wikipedian photowalk in Rákosmente? Now I can not see the picture in these categories only the old filename (Participants of 6th ...) --Rlevente (talk) 20:58, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to disturbing you - now the categories are correct. It seems I did not have enough patience waiting it. --Rlevente (talk) 21:09, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
File renaming
Could you explain why did you move a dozen or so EZB images this? Materialscientist (talk) 03:45, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- The moves were requested. The requests were incomplete, but it looked like the new names were more descriptive than the old shorter ones. I just filled in the criteria as #2 and moved the group of 28 or 29. The requests came from this IP. You can see this if you look at the history of each of these files. INeverCry 08:38, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- I see - surely, they should have been declined, because the old German name was Ok, and harmonization was not needed. I'll send the request to the delinker, as reverting those moves now is counterproductive, but the uploader will have all rights to object (then I'll revert the moves and reprimand you :-). Materialscientist (talk) 08:46, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry. I'll know better next time. It's time for an unrelated break though. INeverCry 09:00, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Note
"When you do these move requests you need to include the criteria number"
No, I actually don't. I need to include a reason. I never included criterion numbers before the 'rename' template was altered, and I still don't. DS (talk) 20:30, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- There's a reason that when the 'rename' template was altered, it was customized so that it still works even without including a numbered criterion. That's what the double-pipe is for. DS (talk) 23:05, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- Please stop behaving like an idiot. You are smarter than this. DS (talk) 23:16, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- You'll note that I did not call you an idiot, I said you were acting like an idiot, and that you are smarter than that; however, it would be disingenuous of me to not concede that this is a mere semantic nicety. I have included valid reasons and I always do include valid reasons, and specifying numbered criteria 2346978 1985971 1209869871 is not necessary. Don't just discard the reasons on the grounds that you don't like the format -- or, if you can't bring yourself to get involved in these, leave them for someone else. DS (talk) 23:24, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- "When there's no number, I have to delete the "no valid number" notice before making the move. If you put in a number, I just click move and confirm and it's done. Why can't you type in 1 simple number?" -- why can't you delete one simple notice? DS (talk) 23:36, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

"One more question: why does it say You need to input a value between 1 and 7 which corresponds to the file renaming criteria in big red text on the move request template if that's not necessary?" - bad design. It wasn't necessary before the template was edited to allow for greater internationalization, and it's not necessary now. If you're not comfortable with these, leave them for someone else. DS (talk) 23:39, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Filemover rights abusing
Why did you do this? Read COM:FR#Which files should not be renamed?: Files should NOT be renamed only because the filename is not English and/or is not correctly capitalized (Remember, Commons is a multilingual project, so there's no reason to favor English over other languages). File had good Russian name. So you should not rename it!--Anatoliy (talk) 00:46, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- You're completely mistaken about the reason this was moved. User:Bechamel requested the move saying the name was offensive. I figured the word "parade" might seem offensive when the image appears to show bowing slaves or servants. You should read the summary before accusing me of something that's not at all true. Thanks. Heads up
In such moves [1] (unless requested by the uploader), try to keep the original language (copy/paste from the links, use commas for conjugation if unsure about the grammar, or just skip it). This minimizes complaints, as the uploader has the right to preserve the original language, and English is by no means required. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 08:38, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- Will do. INeverCry 17:52, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

File:Palazzo Pisanelli.jpg
Hi INeverCry, I have read from this book I have (Napoli sacra. Guida alle chiese della città, coordinamento scientifico di Nicola Spinosa; a cura di Gemma Cautela, Leonardo Di Mauro, Renato Ruotolo, Napoli 1993-1997, 15 fascicoli.) that this tower doesn't represent a part of palazzo Pisanelli (whose voice hasn't any sources) but the bell tower of Regina Coeli church. Please may you change the name of this image? Thank you!--CityClass (talk) 13:36, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Congratulations, Dear Administrator!
INeverCry, congratulations! You now have administrator rights on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and its subpages), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Have a look at the list of Gadgets (on the bottom there are the ones specifically for admins – however, for example the UserMessages are very helpful too).
Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. There is also a channel for Commons admins, which may be useful for more sensitive topics, or coordination among administrators: #wikimedia-commons-admin webchat.
You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading. You can find the admin backlog overview at COM:AB.
Please also check or add your entry to the List of administrators and the related lists by language and date it references.
- Welcome to the team. You may find User:Jameslwoodward/Commons notes for administrators useful -- feel free to edit or add to it. . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 11:44, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

You have ru-1, so I'll write in Russian.
Зачем вы переименовали File:COA of Podil Raion Sml.svg на File:COA Obolonskyi, Kyiv, Ukraine.svg?
- The move was requested by the uploader. Here's what he put in the request: {{rename|COA Obolonskyi, Kyiv, Ukraine.svg|7|I am author. I want use my uploading for another image in SVG format}} I guess he typed a 7 when he meant a 1. If you have any more questions about this file you should consult User:Leonid76 (User talk:Leonid76). I've already emailed permissions-commons. I did it right after uploading, and noted both the old name and the new name. I didn't get an OTRS ticket number in reply, I guess that address doesn't use OTRS? Gigs (talk) 17:26, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Advice
I want an advice from you. Once I needed to explain that an image without metadata (without date, without EXIF, without description, without geocode) in low resolution cannot be declared as an image with «doubtful auhtorship». To prove this, I uploaded the image without metadata and used it in discussion. Now I am in trouble and want to ask for your advice. How can I prove that lack of metadata has nothing in common with «doubtful auhtorship»? Thank you.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 19:22, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've found that the lack of EXIF, etc, is often an indicator of doubtful authorship. Many of the files labeled as doubtful authorship for the above reasons do turn out to be taken from the internet without permission, and are deleted as copyvios. I think it's generally understood that lack of EXIF, etc, isn't always an indication of doubtful authorship, but I think in the majority of cases it usually is. In any event, I would recommend that you start a discussion at Commons:Village pump, where you can voice your concern and get community feedback. INeverCry 19:35, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- No rule makes me to publish EXIF. Even more, publishing EXIF I have no security against others to take my EXIF data and show it as their EXIF data.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 23:26, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- The basic concern for uploading of images on Commons is copyright status. When you upload an image you have the burden of showing that it complies with copyright policy. When images are reviewed/inspected on Commons, details such as EXIF, size, quality, subject, etc, are used to help determine if the image is acceptable for inclusion on Commons or not. You don't have to publish EXIF, but it may very well lead to someone thinking that the image is a copyvio. As for security, uploading images to the internet obviously carries a certain risk of improper use, etc. INeverCry 23:47, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- This is a horrible perversion. One thinking the image is a copyvio cannot base on its EXIF, because EXIF may consist of any data I want.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 09:34, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- Most people who grab images off the internet aren't sophisticated enough to alter EXIF, even when it clearly shows that they aren't the creator (I've seen quite a few images with copyright tags in their EXIF uploaded here). Also, when it comes to the obvious or relatively obvious copyvio images uploaded here, lack of EXIF is trumped by size/quality, subject matter, and common sense deduction. In the end, those who upload images that aren't theirs are the people Commons is trying to stop, and certainly not trusted users like yourself. INeverCry 16:26, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Inappropriate renaming
Hi. As long as I understand this renaming is not appropriate. Did you read the talk page ? I believe that even the uploader wants to make a person (s) member of uploaders' ethnic group, wrong information mustn't be accepted. And I think that our best way is using titles without ethnic and religious factors. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 23:30, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Dont identify Kurdish People as you want. You dont have such a right!--Gomada (talk) 08:46, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi. In my opinion, this renaming of Gomada's file hasn't been very sensitively and respectfully done and it's obvious that Gomada now has got a category of being a Kurdish nationalist, a controversal guy, to whom you may pay very little attention. For your information, Gomada is a very skilful editor in the Kurdish Wikipedia, and his point here is as respectable as any other experienced editor's, like Takabeg, even if he expresses himself differently in English. Why have you renamed his file to English, by the way? Isn't even the Kurdish language or toponomy valid? I think you should try to discuss with Gomada a possible renaming of the file, if the adjective is so not appropiate; after all he has uploaded it, so please assume good faith, and please don't ignore other peoples opinions! Thank you, and hope I haven't made you cry :) --MikaelF (talk) 12:26, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- I understand your point of view of the Kurdish people and/or Kurdish nationalists. However you (MikaelF) completely ignore point of view of the side of Zaza people and/or Zaza nationalists. In cases such as Metin Kahraman, I respect both sides but I cannot support both sides. I recommend every user to behave neutrally and chose neutral names. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 13:12, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- No, I do not ignore either one or the other side. I am a big fan of Metin & Kemal Kahraman and I have all their CDs (and the cassettes)! Yes, neutrality is very important, but sometimes it's like you see ghosts where there are none and it doesn't justify not respecting someone else's opinion or just ignoring it. The names of the files, as long as they identify the image, it's up to the uploader to decide if to name them in Kurdish, Zazaki or whatever language. But it's basic to discuss it with the uploader if you think a renaming is necessary. I upload my files in Kurdish, as they refer mostly to Kurdistani culture, and it's not about fanaticism, and I wouldn't be glad if anybody renamed them into English or any other language. Thank you both. --MikaelF (talk) 16:44, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- I understand that you and Gomada have strong feelings about this issue, but I hope neither of you take any of this personally, as I certainly have no personal stake in it, or opinion on the gentleman's ethnicity one way or the other. The ethnicity of the subject is disputed, so I think that a neutral name is best. The file's original name was File:Metin Kahraman(Kurdish musician).jpg, btw, so I don't see an issue with title language here. In any event, I respect both sides in this discussion/dispute, and I think the neutral name is best for both. INeverCry 17:14, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- Im not a monster, but im quite bored of Takabeg. He doesnt really care about my people. He just tries to impose his opinions. There are not enough Kurds around, therefore he makes decisions for my people. I will never accept that. Let us to decide about our own culture. If we have mistakes, we will correct it by ourself. You dont know about us as much as we know. But Takabeg thinks that, he knows our people more than us. Look at all pictures or articles about Kurds on Wiki. He has a contribution there. I cant even describe my own picture. He changes that. Is that normal? Dear INeverCry, maybe you cant understand Takabeg's language. But i can see what he tries to do. You are out of the topic, you just changed name. But this is not so simple. He can act like he cares neutrality or sources. But i know that, its not true. Look at the category of Zazas which he has created. He has added descriptions in English, Kurmanji and Kirmanjki. All are copies from wikipedias. But, he has changed the word of KURD.Almost all speakers of the Zaza language consider themselves as Iranian. See the original in wikipedia Are you kidding? Kurds are not Iranian too? Why do you need to change that? If you arent againist Kurdish identity why do you change it? You try to decieve people by rubbish of neutrality but you dont have respect for Kurdish identity. Then where is your neutrality? I hope to not waste my time for Takabeg once again. And INeverCry, i was angry with you because you didnt even try to tell me that you want to change the name. I believe that, it would be a kind behaviour, if you could ask me before changing.--Gomada (talk) 22:51, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Let me reiterate that I have no personal opinion whatsoever in the matter, and assure you that I repect all people, and all nationalities. As an administrator, I have to maintain neutrality. I can't pick between you and Takabeg over who is right, so I chose the ethnically neutral filename once Takabeg notified me that he disputes the ethnic claim and naming. If you have a problem concerning Takabeg, I would recommend you take it to Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems, or you can start a discussion of the filename/ethnicity issue at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. INeverCry 23:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Please re check on the decision you have made on the Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Erzdiakon_Thomas.jpg So that it may discussed and resolved and better that re-nominating the image once again. A discussion is progressing on the village pump, Please participate if you are interested.--...Captain......Tälk tö me.. 05:36, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- I closed that as keep again because the first nom showed no support for delete, and after 5 days, the second nom showed no support either. I could have left it open another 2 days, and if you want to nominate it again, I'll leave it for another admin to close. I don't think a delete consensus will be reached, especially looking at the above VP discussion. If that above discussion had taken place at the deletion nom, it would've been closed as keep or left open ad infinitum like many others. In any event, I appreciate the calm and professional way you've handled this. INeverCry 16:59, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Well, It can close only after seven days from opening a DR, That was not followed and thus re-nom, again a close after 5 days, Again a re-nom and finally it will end up in nom-close war, Anyway a discussion is underway and the result will come very soon, and it will be helpful for may files in my list for deletion/undeletion.--...Captain......Tälk tö me.. 09:52, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Im confused
Hello, I started to (try) and learn the Wiki thing a few years back. Ended up doing the upload of a few powerboat racing pictures that I had taken at some of our boat races. Today I see a "nomination to delete" thing come to my email.. After reading, looking and searching -Im not really sure what I'm supposed to do.
Hoping you (INeverCry) can help me with this? It looks like you have labeled my foto for some kind of copy-right infringement -but I'm not sure
Thanks in advance for your help -Kip
PS: The picture Im referring to is: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Larry_Terzinski_&_Kip_Trumpulis.jpg
Also I have one other that hasnt been comented on, Its at: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:J_Stock_Hydroplane_Raceboats.jpg
- I labeled both images because they are low quality with no EXIF, which is often an indication that an image has been taken from the internet. Do you have copies of these images at full resolution with EXIF, and not altered, framed, or captioned that you can upload? That would be the easiest way to show that these are really your work. Full res images without captions and borders have more educational value and are more useful also. INeverCry 23:07, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Interesting deletion reason. --Aa1bb2cc3dd4ee5 (talk) 19:48, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- That's very strange. I deleted that image along with the other 4 in Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Gopi33151. The deletion is done with an automated tool, and it looks like all 5 files have the wrong request. I don't copy and paste anything - all I do is click a [delete] button and [ok] it by pressing enter, so it's weird that the tool would come up with the wrong request. INeverCry 20:02, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed, that's strange. Maybe you should contact the tool's developer. --Aa1bb2cc3dd4ee5 (talk) 20:15, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- The tool gave that same incorrect rationale for a few other deletions, all done at 12:44. My next deletion at 12:47 Commons:Deletion requests/File:Kataxenna - Purple Hair.png is fine. If this happens again I'll see about reporting it. INeverCry 20:21, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Selective kept without explanation
Hello INeverCry, You have kept everything of my DR with one exception from the same day with exactly the same deletion reason. But the special is in this first DR, I give Multichill answer and question for all this DR on this day, but nobody has answered anything! (Only you kept like a bot.) So I beg you for an answer, because you are (not only as an admin) that obliged. As you can maybe see I am a little pissed off, when I hit the wrong note, I apologize. PS: Because this is definitely a normal deletion request in which is normally (ever I've seen) the file be deleted. So here is given another reason for an explanation. Greetings -- πϵρήλιο ℗ 10:07, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Perhelion. I closed the DRs you mention, such as Commons:Deletion requests/File:Horgen wappen.png, because I only saw the keep vote by Multichill with no responses. Had there been a link to the one you responded on in each of the others, I would've left them all open. In these cases I was trying to clean up week-old DRs and I saw the keep vote by an experienced admin and kept them. You should discuss this directly with Multichill. INeverCry 17:20, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for response, I do this. For fact the last similar DR from this day (next day after midnight) was deleted (although the image is so not completely downscaled identical, as like by you/the other) I'd never before negative personal contact with Multichill in any way. -- πϵρήλιο ℗ 09:18, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I do not mind renaming like here - so no objection to adding the ",Jeruslem", but do keep my numbers (the IMG-0009 part) to help me find the pictures of they are needed or if people have questions about them. You deleted my photo, why?
Hi there, you deleted a photo of John Frawley that I was using in a Wiki. The photo was uploaded to Commons by John Frawley himself. Could you please tell me why you assumed there was a copyright violation?
(cur | prev) 20:06, 5 September 2012 CommonsDelinker (talk | contribs) m . . (6,327 bytes) (-60) . . (Removing "John_Frawley_pic.jpg", it has been deleted from Commons by INeverCry because: Copyright violation, see commons:Commons:Licensing.) (undo) Farmer bev (talk) 09:12, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Bev. The image was deleted because it was believed to have been taken from real-astrology.com, and so was a copyright violation because that site is labeled "Copyright 2008 - 2012 Real Astrology.com". The photo is a professional portrait of Mr. Frawley, and so we would need permission from the photographer to have this image on Commons. INeverCry 16:03, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi, INever,
Mr Frawley assured me the photo was his copyright, when I sought permission to use it. Since the copyright was his, I assumed he took the photograph himself using a time delay on his camera, which is fairly well-known technology, or otherwise that his wife exercised the camera shutter. Mr Frawley is one of the owners of the website Real Astrology.com. What does he have to do to assure you and Wikipedia that the copyright belonged to him, before he uploaded it to Commons himself? Farmer bev (talk) 22:06, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- I recommend that he follow the instructions at Com:OTRS so that the deleted file can be restored or he can upload another. INeverCry 22:20, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
OK and how does one prevent erroneous deletion of the next uploaded photograph please? Farmer bev (talk) 22:22, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- Once permission for an image is received thru the OTRS system, the image is tagged with an OTRS ticket showing that it complies with Commons copyright policy. INeverCry 22:42, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your assistance. I'm sorry, I've messed up the code a little bit. Farmer bev (talk) 02:38, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Moving images
Hi, you said the other day that I should ask you if I ever needed help, so I wonder if I could take you up on that.
I've uploaded six images of gestation crates taken inside Smithfield Foods. I named the files on my computer with the name of the company so I could find them easily, but now that I've uploaded them it seems inappropriate to retain the company name in the file name. It looks a bit pointy. So I was wondering if you'd be willing to move them for me, or whether the best thing is to file a move request. The images are File:Smithfield Foods gestation crates 1.jpg, File:Smithfield Foods gestation crates 2.jpg, File:Smithfield Foods gestation crates 3.jpg, File:Smithfield Foods gestation crates 4.jpg, File:Smithfield Foods gestation crates 5.jpg and File:Smithfield Foods gestation crates 9.jpg
I was thinking that a generic title might be better, e.g. File:Gestation crates 1.jpg, and so on. Any help or advice much appreciated. Best, SlimVirgin (talk) 04:18, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

I saw you suggested Admin statistics to our new admin. I find that useful, although, as you say, it can be time consuming, particularly if you go back more than three months. It does have the advantage that it works in real time, so you can see what you did right up to the moment. It's disadvantage is that it shows only those people who are currently Admins.
You might look at Commons:Database_reports/Users_by_log_action. It is an all time record, and, while it is only updated once a day, it loads immediately. . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 13:37, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Copyvio delete message
(I answered your question on my talk page, this is something else). I've seen from some time this kind of delete message from you like the one in this file - File:59801973KimmarieJohnson610201070844PM.jpg. I don't know how you are doing it, but it should preferably show the elimination precise reason (in this case, Turélio copyvio notice), so that we don't have to look inside the deleted image log to find what it was, in case of need. This should be automatic when you chose the garbage can below the copyvio notice. Are you using some other process to delete them? Cheers, -- Darwin Ahoy! 00:02, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've been using the big square delete button at the top of the page directly above the image. I'll switch to the can in future. In regard to Lobo, I'll see about that soon. INeverCry 00:18, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! Please explain by which policies of Commons was this image kept. There is no date. There is no proof that it is published before 1952 to be eligible for PD-India. The Ravi Varma Press was run years after Ravi Varma sold it to others in 1901 and his death in 1906. How can the dead founder of a Press be the author after he has sold the rights and after his death? --Redtigerxyz (talk) 15:14, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- I felt that, with the inclusion on the image of the name of Anant Shivaji Desai who most likely died before 1952, that the image was published in India before 1952. Perhaps the license should be PD-India rather than PD-Art. I could, of course, be wrong in keeping it, and if you feel strongly that this is so, please feel free to re-nominate it, and I'll let another admin do the closing. - Looks ok to me. Another interesting thing is that the image on the third page at the source here is dated, and I think it might say either 1924 or 1929, but I'm not sure. That might be a reasonable date range for all of the images, if that's what it says. In any event, it looks like Mr. Desai lived to a very ripe old age. ;) INeverCry 19:12, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for (temporarily) restoring File:Al Qaeda scrapbook 2.jpg.

Deletion
Hello,
you notified me about the deletion of a file calles File:Vanessa Hudgens 2012 Paris.jpg. I have absolutely no idea why this file was deleted, but I think you made a mistake. If I remember well, this file was uploaded by me the same days as File:Vanessa Hudgens 2012 Paris 2.jpg.
Those files are not my own work and I never pretended that they were : they are the work of an amateur french photographer called Georges Biard, who gave me permission to upload them and sent an OTRS permission. He is the author of over 1500 works present on wikimedia commons, all of which have been uploaded by me with his permission (and confirmed by him with an OTRS permission).
This picture of Vanessa Hudgens may not have been the most important work by Georges Biard on commons (I can't remember if it was even used on any project), but I think it was deleted by mistake and should be restored ASAP, as there was no copyright violation whatsoever. You should have asked me first... I wouldn't want this to happen to other pictures. Thanks, JJ Georges (talk) 22:45, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi JJ Georges. I've looked at this and what happened is another user (User:Ro Cachins) removed the OTRS permission and changed the descriptions. I've restored the file without these changes. I'll deal with the above user. INeverCry 22:55, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Ok thanks a lot. Not that this picture is very important per se, but for a minute I was scared that there could be a problem with Biard's other pictures. I have spent a considerable amount of hours uploading his photos, which are often wonderful and very useful. I have always been 100% honest in the process. JJ Georges (talk) 23:00, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've warned the user who removed the OTRS tag. They had also uploaded an image of Vanessa Hudgens taken from the internet, which I deleted. You should keep any images of Vanessa you've uploaded watched, in case they try to do this again. If you see this user do anything like this again, let me know. INeverCry 23:09, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- I certainly will. Thanks a lot. I hope I won't have to watch all the 1500 photos I uploaded ! In case anything like this happen (i.e., a picture by Georges Biard - all of them have been uploaded by me - without permission), you can also ask me first or, if I'm not there, ask Bapti who has put the OTRS tag on all of them. Best regards. JJ Georges (talk) 23:13, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

DR closing
Hello INeverCry, please be very careful when closing DRs,and only speedy close them when you are absolutely sure they are uncontroversial. You closed this and this DR and speedy deleted 2 files that had already been discussed before in the undeletion requests, and whose licenses were reviewed and accepted. I believe you have good intentions on trying to get rid of the open DRs, but this way you are doing more harm than good. If it's not an obvious copyvio, then let it open for two weeks or so. There's no need for such a rush. Cheers, -- Darwin Ahoy! 05:18, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't "speedy delete" or "speedy close" anything. Those DRs were in the "Latest requests to be closed" section which means all the DRs listed are "eligible to be closed". Also, where's your admonishment of User:Armbrust, an experienced user who messed up on these two DRs you mention, and who should've checked before DRing them? I've deleted and closed alot of these closeable 7 day-old DRs in the last 3 or 4 days, and these 2 are the only ones I've had complaints on, so do you really think I'm doing more harm than good? I don't think that part of your message was fair. I'm doing my best to help out, and I try to be as careful as I can. Mistakes will happen, but so far I think I've done a good job of keeping that to a minimum. INeverCry 05:59, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm - My bad, I've read 28 September there I don't know why. I don't know what's the thing with Armbrust, this is the second time he tries to delete them. Possibly he's not aware of the discussion that took place at undeletion requests. You're right, it wasn't fair, my mistake and I apologize for it, since the rant was about DR speedy closing. Nevertheless, you should try to improve your sixth sense for those traps, if the license is reviewed, then there's most probably a lot more to it than what it shows... And you should have seen it as well when you were going to delete the file, on that occasion it shows the old log below, and there were the previous delete and undelete logs, with the links for the discussion. -- Darwin Ahoy! 06:09, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Deleting duplicate images
Please, try mass replacing of duplicate images before you delete them. It should be really easy using CommonsDelinker. With just deleting stop signs, you have created a lot of unnecessery work for editors of several projects ([11], [12], [13], [14] – looking just on few in the languages which I understand) I suppose that now the images have to be replaced by hand :-(.--Tchoř (talk) 06:32, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

your assistance please
Thanks for restoring File talk:Al Qaeda scrapbook 2.jpg.
I'm sorry, could you restore the earlier uploads? I know User:Fastily thinks they are problematic -- but frankly I think they have been showing bad judgment, and I don't really trust their judgment. User:Fastily has asserted, in several comments, that they are not an administrator, so their opinion is of no greater significance than any other contributors'. Even if he or she was an administrator, I think they should have weighed in, in the open discussion, not perform a speedy deletion, they weren't prepared to properly explain.
Personally, I would prefer to wait until others have weighed in on whether the image needs any blurring, prior to deleting the earlier versions. Ordinary contributors can't weigh in if the earlier versions remain deleted.
Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 23:15, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've brought this issue to the admins' notice board: Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#File:Al Qaeda scrapbook 2.jpg. My fellow administrators can look at those earlier versions without restoring them, and hopefully we can get some consensus on the whole thing. INeverCry 23:38, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi there. "Watermark" is not an acceptable rationale for filing a speedy deletion request. There are plenty of freely licensed images with watermarks in them. Obviously if there's other evidence to go with the watermark, that's fine, but that evidence also needs to be in the speedy request. Sven Manguard Wha? 21:47, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Started this about a year ago when I realized how many pages at en:WP didn't have photos, and just kept going. Tend to stay away from the film shots because sometimes they're not PD, but there's a lot to be gotten from television, Broadway and radio. Marilyn Monroe did very little television, but we have a publicity photo of her with Jack Benny from an appearance she did on his show. For the shows that didn't make DVD, these photos are the only way for people to get an idea of what the program was like. Still waiting to find one of Danny Thomas as the guy from Planet Twilo from the old Dick Van Dyke show, though-have yet to see any shots from that episode. Thanks again! FCC after all
INeverCry, when I saw this figure in context in Close-packed lattices, I realized that it is really fcc after all. It is a highly misleading figure, not the way such lattices are normally represented, and shouldn't be used to illustrate fcc lattices in articles. But you'll need to restore its earlier name. Dear INeverCry! Why did you remove the work of Natalia Mishina "Alice in Wonderland"? She gave permission for publication .... Sincerely,--Alexander Aster (talk) 10:57, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Alexander. Permission for File:" Алиса в Зазеркалье ".jpg and any other copyrighted images has to be sent by email to OTRS directly. Once this is done, the file can be restored. INeverCry 16:36, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

- Sorry, it was my mistake. For some reason I decided that you know Polish ... In short, I said that these files are not included in the above DR. There are two different situations. Files that you recovered had justification for removal (nofop), made by miself. And DR have some different justification (in my opinion there is no proper justification at all and I'm trying to prove that).--Сергій (обг.) 19:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- The files that were tagged for speedy deletion also had DR tags, which is why I removed the speedy tags. Anyways, a mass DR with 700 images is mind boggling to say the least. I would figure that this huge DR won't be closed for quite a while. We'll see what develops as we get comments and opinions from experienced users and admins. I'll ask to a few people. And DR have some different justification (in my opinion there is no proper justification at all and I'm trying to prove that).--Сергій (обг.) 19:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- CSD just means speedy delete. INeverCry 19:11, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Wlasnie ze nie sa czescia tego DR. Pan moze sprawdzic. Tam juz nowa porcja... Ale nominowane przeze mnie zostali usuniete poniewaz przytoczylem dokladne argumenty nieodpowiednosci do nofop. A w wymienionym wyzej DR? Tam argumentow poprostu niema.
Files I listed below... I'm requesting they be undeleted
I am requesting that you restore the files listed:
As I explained to EugeneZelenko, I am new to wikipedia and I made a mistake in the copyright information. After talking with more experienced users in the teahouse, I corrected the copyright information and had all parties concerned (Bar-Bare Records, Willie Buck and Bob Corritore) submit and have the images re-tagged so that the proper copyrights were reflected. Commons:OTRS has the emails releasing the use of the files to wikicommons. Please undelete the files so I can continue building this page. Thank you so much for your repsonses and any help you can offer would be gretly appreciated. Monorail11261 (talk) 18:38, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- In order to restore these files, I would need confirmation from OTRS that the emails had been received and processed. You can check on the status of these emails at Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard. INeverCry 18:53, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Could you restore File:K0202.JPG?
I contacted the original author of File:K0202.JPG at a BBS linked from his website, and he confirmed that he contributed the photo to Wikimedia Commons by himself [18]. Therefore there is no copyright concern and I think we can restore it. --whym (talk) 22:47, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've restored it. Please add the above info to the source or to the image's talk page with a "see talk" note in the source. Otherwise this may get deleted again. Thanks. INeverCry 23:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your prompt response! I've added it to the summary. --whym (talk) 23:33, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Great work
Thanks for your help on renaming files/images. I'd give you a barnstar but I don't know how to do it on commons, but give yourself one if you like! Anyway, just to let you know you are appreciated. Sun Creator (talk) 01:12, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

You proposed elimination in my uploads
These images I have uploaded are from my private collection of old diskettes. Cuts are my other works. metalllinux (talk) 11:18, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- The images you've uploaded are all available on other websites. I've added a note regarding this to the deletion nomination. You should direct any further comments to Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Metalllinux. Thanks. INeverCry 18:35, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi INC, hope you're well. When you have time, could you restore the above linked file for me? I appear to have mistakenly deleted it per Commons:Deletion requests/File:TAR1 carte.tif. Thanks, FASTILY (TALK) 06:23, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you INeverCry for your work, the results of which I have come across many times. I know the file movers’ job is sometimes rather thankless... I send greetings with a large hat tip in your general direction. Ariadacapo (talk) 07:26, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi! Could I ask you why this file has been kept, despite in the new deletion request, made on 30th September, all the votes were to delete it? Thank you, bye! :-) -- Vonvikken (talk) 10:25, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Pure stupidity on my part. It looks even dumber considering my delete vote is the first vote. What happened was I somehow looked at the earlier kept DR and thought somehow that somebody had forgotten to actually keep it. Anyways, I've undone the keep so that another admin should be able to close it soon. INeverCry 15:40, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, no problem! ;-) Bye! -- Vonvikken (talk) 16:05, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Why did you delete this picture? What has to be done to restore is? --Meister und Margarita (talk) 07:11, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- This image states in its description: "Scene from the opera Lulu by Alban Berg. With Christine Schäfer as Lulu and John Bröcheler as Dr. Schön. Salzburg Festival 1995." The image itself is very grainy, and looks to be a scan from a magazine or taken from a website. The image is also available thru tineye: [19]. The "own work" claim doesn't seem to be true here. There was a discussion on the talk page when I uploaded them [20], and I directed user Túrelio to the page on the official site that states the images are available for use under Copyleft Free Art License 1.3. [21]
On September 20, Turelio said he forwarded a screenshot to OTRS.
Could you please restore the files? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mechagodzilla (talk • contribs) 17:00, October 8, 2012 (UTC)
