File:Maxim Chernodub.jpg

edit

Hi there. You recently uploaded the file File:Maxim Chernodub.jpg and marked it as CC-BY-3.0. It's sourced to the URL [1], but the source URL's "parent page" [2] seems to say nothing about licensing. Please elaborate? Thanks, --KFP (talk) 00:45, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have agreed that with Mr. Maxim Chernodub. He is a member of the Laboratoire de mathématiques et physique théorique, which runs that parent page. He has suggested the use of the image within the Wikipedia article on him. I have suggested to him that I would designate him as the author of the image, and he has not contradicted that, asking me to decide on the license. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 16:54, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Hans Dunkelberg!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Picture Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche (anthrowiki.at)

edit

Probably not the best place to discuss the picture of EFN shown here: https://anthrowiki.at/Datei:ElisabethFoersterNietzsche.jpg but it is one you've uploaded, so here you go.

I'm looking for the source of this picture. Would you be able to help?
a) it is a detail of a full picture showing both EFN and her then husband Bernhard Förster (I have a copy).
b) it cannot be dated 1894 as, by that date, Förster had already commited suicide (in 1889).

My best guess is that it is dated around 22 May 1885, the day both got married.
I would want to know when and where this picture has been published.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The fully masked etc (talk • contribs) 18:13, 22 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

So this image has both a scale bar and a map of North America for scale. However, North America is about 4313km wide, not ~1000km as the bar would suggest.
