Image Tagging Image:HöchheimGrave.jpg
edit
Thanks for uploading Image:HöchheimGrave.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. - It already seems to have a Creative Commons tag and the creator is listed. The image is in the German Wikipedia with the same name.--CSvBibra 15:45, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- The next time you take some pictures from another wikipedia and upload them here, first read the guidelines and always use the Commonshelper, especially since you seem to be not able to make a correct picture description. And don't tell that the filename at German Wikipedia is the same when it is not true. I just spent several minutes searching through the Users contributions to find the original. If you are still unable to upload a picture the correct way after reading the guidelines, please ask for help at the Commons:Help desk. -- Cecil 10:44, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- The commons image is "Amberg - Maria Hilf - Hauptportal.jpg" and the German Wikipedia image is "Amberg - Maria Hilf - Hauptportal.jpg". They appear to be the same to me. I will admit that I could have done a better description of the image and agree to make an better effort next time, but I deny that I said something that is not true. Since the name and the image are the same.--CSvBibra 17:17, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- The image name at German Wikipedia is not as you again state "Amberg - Maria Hilf - Hauptportal.jpg". It's "Amberg - Maria Hilf - Hauptportal.JPG" and that is a huge difference. -- Cecil 17:25, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Please tag your images
edit
Thank you for providing images to the Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on the Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikipedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best use CommonsHelper
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.
Thank you. Yuval Y § Chat § 02:27, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:42, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

please stop changing my work!
editHello CSvBibra,
please stop changing my photo "Studierzimmer des Hans von Aufseß im Meingoz-Steinhaus Burg Unteraufseß.jpg"!
I just uploaded it and will contribute it to QI and I am sure, exposure is fine (this room is a quite dark one, and photo should show mood of light in the narrow and dark room)
check your monitor setting, see "your monitor" to find correct settings, before lighten pictures
and of course you are free to use my work, BUT do it under your name please,
regards --J. Lunau (talk) 20:33, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- I am sorry you did not appreciate my changes. I will not redo. However, while it is a very interesting photo from an artistic perspective, it is so dark that one cannot see 90% of the room. At the very least it seems to call for a derived second version of a more utilitarian nature so people can actually see the room. I hope you don't mind a second version with full credit for its source.--CSvBibra (talk) 00:09, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- I created a second file of the lightened version: Studierzimmer des Hans von Aufseß im Meingoz-Steinhaus Burg Unteraufseß2.jpg I tried to make clear that you do not endorse changes made to created second version.--CSvBibra (talk) 00:42, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you respecting my work. Of course I do not mind your version, that is, how COMMONS work. I am happy you like the picture as much, that you obviously want to use it. But I still think, you have over processed your version very much, which I marked with annotations on the brightened version. Moreover I made my version brighter ( 1 EV) and rose the contrast to make sure, you can see all detail plus having the special mood in the photo. Regards --J. Lunau (talk) 11:18, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm ok with the status quo but am confused why you removed the Categories: Cultural heritage monuments in Aufseß | Buildings in Aufseß | Hans von und zu Aufseß as the modified photo fits all three categories.--CSvBibra (talk) 16:32, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- I did this to avoid doublets in the categories but I added a link under "other versions" on the original photo to the brighter picture. If someone feels my original work is too dark he will find the lighter version by this link.
- As a fan of franconia and castles you may have intrest on photo of castle Unteraufseß, in which the Study-room of Hans von Aufseß is situated. And I probably will upload more photos to this topic. Regards from franconia, --J. Lunau (talk) 16:59, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

- I do enjoy fixing images especially ones that at distorted such as painting where photographing at an angle reduces glare but distorts image. I appreciate being told as some take offense for altering their photos. I you want me to fix, email directly or let me know after being uploaded.----CSvBibra (talk) 22:18, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

- here are the pictures . i hope you enjoy. greetings --Z thomas 07:14, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
In the future, I recommend photographing painting from an angle to avoid the reflection glare as that is much harder to fix than the angle distortion.--CSvBibra (talk) 17:13, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
- jawohl! :-) thank you for your assistance.
- btw if you like some more, have a look at this collection :-) --Z thomas 13:59, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- I did several. Don't hesitate to change back if they didn't turn out as well as you wished.--CSvBibra (talk) 02:06, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- everything is fine :-) it's great to see, how images can be improved. --Z thomas 07:10, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

editHi CSvBibra,
Some years ago you made a change to [1]. But that resulted in a lesser contrast of the green with the white background making the map less visible. Would if be possible for you to make the contrast clearer again? thanks. Druifkes (talk) 10:39, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Photos of crowns
editHello! When you uploaded "new versions" of a few photos of Swedish royal crowns, I think you changed them too much to call them "new versions". The natural backgrounds are a part of the atmosphere of the originals I uploaded on behalf of he donor. I will now restore them. Please feel free to upload your verisons, with the blacked out backgrounds, and then we can let article users choose which they'd like to use, rather than blanket changing a lot of article image content somewhat drastically the way you did. OK? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 18:12, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- I'm fine either way. Initially, I would do a new files but the last year or so I have just uploaded on top of them. Of the many, many crowns I have blackened the background and uploaded on top of, this is the first concern.--CSvBibra (talk) 18:55, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps the other image authors and donors are OK with your changing their photos considerably and calling them "new versions". We are not. I don't think Commons is either. Can't find the rules on it at the moment, and don't have time to search and search for them right now. Maybe later. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 08:02, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- If you don't like the change, I'm fine with you having reverted the changes since it was your original uploads. I think the changes would have greatly enhanced the images and the linked articles, but that is just a personal opinion.--CSvBibra (talk) 18:12, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

(See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Notification about possible deletion
editSome contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Wolfgang Aaron von Bibra
editDo you think he painted all the images that are pre-1900 at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Talk:Q4998641 ? Ping me if you respond. Are you also working on the family at Familysearch and Geni? RAN (talk) 00:26, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- I am not sure. Several years ago I found a reference that stated the one painting was by him but I didn't see that original posting recently. If the photo were higher quality or could visit original the signature would let you know. CSvBibra (talk) 20:05, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- The mural is a photomontage of all the Mayors up to about 1900. Looking at them, they are all in his style and color palette. I will have to visit again and take more pictures.
