Galeries et catégories

edit

Bonjour mon ami.

Wing scales or JPEG artefacts?

edit

Hi Archaeodontosaurus:

Could you please clarify whether these are wing scales or JPEG artefacts. A similar discussion raised here too. Jkadavoor (talk) 05:47, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • I looked at your image with detail, and the type of equipment you use. There are many artefec JPG compression. To resolve this problem it would be good that you make the shots in RAW if your camera allows. Otherwise use the minimum compression when you save. Bravo for your work is very good, you are now an important member of our community.--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 07:35, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
The errors are less obvious but there it is possible that this is a problem parameter of Neat Image. I do not know much about this software. With photoshop I do not have this type of anomaly if I treat areas of independent ways.--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 12:03, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I confirm: I tried Neat Image! It was he who generates errors. Shoot in RAW and you can correct images for the exhibition, chromatic aberrations and noise ...--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 12:20, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the info; will try to use Gimp or Photoshop. Regards, Jkadavoor (talk) 15:13, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Je me diversifie, moi...

Metilia brunnerii

edit

Hallo Archaeodontosaurus. In the picture the forelegs are bent ventral so that it looks as if tibia and tarsus are cut off and lacking. The other legs are also bent and mostly covered by the wings so that their structure is also not well visible. I think an additional ventral view would solve the problem (as in the butterflies, where you mostly offer dorsal and ventral view). Greetings --Llez (talk) 06:40, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your comment. It is quite true. The flight position is not ideal to see the legs. I do not find this species in the reference position closed wings. In fact it is the scope that was misstated. I will add "flight position". --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 07:17, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

VIC Calopteryx virgo meridionalis

edit

Hallo Archaedontosaurus, in gastropods we have on the one hand the living specimen and at the other hand the shell. Both are of scientific value, and therefore we discern between the animal an the shell. The same we do in VIC, where we have a scope for the animal (species name alone) and the shell (species name with he addition "shell"). I think the same we should do in insects. We have the living specimen (and photos of living specimens), and we have the mounted Museum specimes, which are prepared for scientific purposes. I think, this are two different things. Shouldn't we discern them in the same way as the gastropods? The scope "species name" (with male/female, subspecies added if necessary), and an extra scope for mounted Museum specimens (with the additon "mounted specimen" or Museum specimen"). It is often hard to decide, which photo to prefer, the living specimen or the mounted. If you have only pictures of mounted representatives, the decision is easy, but a competition between living and mounted specimens, is it necessary? Also in this case: The addition "Museum specimen" or "Mounted specimen" would make the decision much more easier. What do you think about the idea of at least two different scopes in general for insect species? --Llez (talk) 06:59, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Taxons

edit

Bonjour. --Zolo (talk) 07:58, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Archaeodontosaurus - File:Vautour moine MHNT.jpg does not show a live, wild individual. It shows a specimen that has been captured and placed in a museum. Therefore it belongs in the captive category. If it had shown an egg in its natural position in a nest in nature, it would be a different matter. But it doesn't. - MPF (talk) 23:12, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I understand your idea but:

This is an egg taken from the wild, by naturalist Rene de Naurois, who donated it to the ornitologue Jacques Perrin de Brichambaut. Eggs from breeding or zoo are perfectly identified. The mention Aegypius monachus (captive) can not place holder. The spots on the eggs of captive forms are much less visible. Best regards. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 07:31, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orthoptera genus Tropidacris

edit

Hello Achaeodontosaurus,
while giving taxonavigation boxes to genus Tropidacris, I found there 2 species that are not listed at Orthoptera species file:

  1. Category:Tropidacris violaceus: perhaps it has been renamed to another genus?
  2. Category:Tropidacris alleipes: These images do not show a Tropidacris at all, but some spiny Ensifera species. Do you know what this could be?

Thanks for you help, with regards --Thiotrix (talk) 08:38, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

VI Neuschwanstein

edit
Enfin bref, ça me parait opérationnel maintenant.
On va bien voir.

OBReply

Hi Archaeodontosaurus, why are you added the museum info ( Projet Phoebus) to your Salamandre tachetée image? And what are the right geocoordinates from the "Etang de la Maourine, Toulouse, France"? The current geo tag is from the museum.

The Museum has an annex in botany in an area of the city there are still a pond. This part can also be visited for the public.
I hesitate to put the coordinates of the Museum Annex. The photo was made in the studio at the museum but the animal "lives" in the pond. I put the coordinates of the "annex-pond". Thank you for your interest ... --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 11:56, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merci encore. JLPC (talk) 08:04, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bonne journée.--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 12:53, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Bien cordialement. JLPC (talk) 13:33, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
-- Bien cordialement. JLPC (talk) 15:24, 24 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Archaeodontosaurus, thank you for reviewing the VIC. According to the rules I inform you, that I changed the scope. Salut,

Bref n'hésite pas à me gronder. :-) --PierreSelim (talk) 12:06, 26 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

:)--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 14:01, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
