English: On December 22, 2009, an American Airlines Boeing 737-800 overran the runway while landing in Kingston, Jamaica. The flight originated in Miami, Florida. Numerous injuries were reported among the 154 persons on board, and the airplane was substantially damaged. The NTSB sent an accredited representative and operations, airworthiness, systems, and survival factors specialists to assist the Jamaican Civil Aviation Authority with its investigation. Technical advisors from the FAA, Boeing, American Airlines, the Allied Pilots Association, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, and Transport Workers Union/Air Transport Division also assisted. |
