Description |
English: The sculpture Breybalg (modern German: Breibauch, english: Porridge Belly) refers to the time after devastating fire that destroyed major parts of en:Schmallenberg in 1822. To avoid a famine, people from nearby villages donated cereals, which the citizens of Schmallenberg ate as porridge. Since then, the nickname Breybalg has been used for the people of Schmallenberg.
