Description
English: Roman glass beaker from second half of the 4th century. Found in Cologne, now in the Staatliche Antikensammlung Munich. The style is called diatret, there are only 50 beakers left, most are broken. The characters at the top: "Bibe multis annis" short for "Bibe vivas multis annis" (Drink and you will live for many years"). Photographed by myself in Antikensammlung München.
Deutsch: Römischer Glassbecher aus der zweiten Hälfte des 4. Jahrhunderts. Fundort Köln, jetzt in der Staatlichen Antikensammlung München. Die Art wird Diatretglas genannt. Die Umschrift lautet: BIBE MULTIS ANNIS
Français : Gobelet en verre romain de la seconde moitié du IVe siècle, trouvée à Cologne, en Allemagne et conservée à la Staatliche Antikensammlung. Ce type de gobelet est dit diatret. Il n'en existe plus qu'une cinquantaine, généralement brisés. On peut lire en haut du gobelet Bibe multis annis (Bois et tu vivras des années).
