Ramnami - a Hindu sect in Chhattisgarh with a custom of tattooing "Ram" all over their bodies.

Summary

edit
Description
English: A portrait of a Ramnami nakshikh (fully tattooed elder). Ramnami sect was created as a form of protest against cast segregation in Hindu society: since low-cast people were often denied access to temples and ceremonies (and therefore, to gods), they decided to turn their own bodies into temples of Lord Ram by tattooing his name over and over again, head to toe.
