English: The skeleton of a Great Auk (Pinguinus impennis) in the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
These skeleton is believed to have come from John Hunter's friend and patron Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820). The auk was probably collected by Banks during his visits to Labrador in 1766 or Iceland in 1772. |
