碑中央に大きく彫られているのは、日蓮宗の題目「南無妙法蓮華経」と日蓮の花押である。 これを含めた全体の内容は、以下のように読める。
天保十三壬寅年四月二十八日 廣潤山拾七世
南無妙法蓮華経 日蓮
伹木成行代建
天保十三年は西暦1842年で干支は壬寅。 伹木成行は、この碑のある七ツ森のふもとの黒川吉岡の領主で、仙台藩の奉行を勤めた。 廣潤山とは、仙台市若林区連坊小路に現存する日蓮宗の「広潤山法運寺」のこと。これは伊達忠宗の開基である。 拾七世とは、法運寺第十七代の完道院日學のこと。
