Description
Español: La obra representa el Compromiso de Caspe, suscrito en 1412 y en el que se acordó que el infante Fernando de Castilla (1380-1416), que era hijo del rey Juan I de Castilla, ocuparía el trono aragonés, que estaba vacante desde la muerte del rey Martín I de Aragón. Este cuadro fue presentado en la Exposición Nacional de 1890, donde fue criticado negativamente por su excesiva teatralidad, aunque también fue elogiado su realismo. Y tras ser mostrado en Berlín, su autor, que era en esa época concejal de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, lo cedió a esta institución en 1901.
