Object history
Français : Les lieux d'Avully-Epeisses étaient connus et habités un demi-siècle avant J.-C. Néanmoins, le nom du village d'Avully proprement dit, associé à celui du hameau d'Epeisses, n'est mentionné qu'au Moyen-Âge.
Le territoire était alors en possession des comtes de Genevois. C'est en souvenir des comtes de Genève, ou de Genevois, que la Municipalité d'Avully décida en 1924 de prendre comme armoiries celles des comtes de Genève, complétées d'une fasce crénelée rappelant le château d'Epeisses et évoquant les trois villages ou hameaux de la Commune: Avully, Epeisses et Eaumorte.
