Description

Two of Roger Puta's photographs of eastbound Amtrak Train 50, the "Cardinal" passing Hawk's Nest Dam about a mile "railroad west" of the C&O bridge (Bridge #4088) across the New River on January 23, 1985. At the time, the "Cardinal" was operating three days a week in each direction. Until shortly before this date, Train 50 had been running through this territory at night. On the daylight schedule it was at Hawk's Nest about noon. (Caption by Bill Howes, another friend of Roger's.)
