Deutsch: AWO 425 (1955)
Die AWO (Awtowelo) war in der DDR sehr beliebt. Viele erfüllten sich mit ihr den Traum individueller Mobilität. Sie wurde ab 1950 in Suhl/Thüringen gebaut und von einem Viertaktmotor angetrieben. Eine zweite Variante, die AWO 425 S (Sport), folgte ab 1955. Mit der Namens- änderung des Werkes zu VEB Fahrzeug- und Gerätewerk Simson, Suhl‚ wechselte 1957 auch der Name AWO 425 zu Simson 425. Die Fertigung des Motorrads wurde 1961 zugunsten der seit 1955 im Werk angelaufenen Produktion von Kleinkrafträdern eingestellt. Insgesamt entstanden ca. 350.000 Exemplare. Mit der AWO war kein Ziel zu fern und kein Weg zu weit: Mit ihr fuhren die Menschen in den Urlaub bis in die Hohe Tatra. Zudem war eine Laufleistung von über 40.000 Kilometern in nur zwei Jahren keine Seltenheit. |
