English: Name: Beit Levi Eshkol, Jerusalem Description: Beit Levi Eshkol is a building in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem. The building was used between 1950-1974 as the home of the Prime Minister of Israel, when the residence was moved to Beit Agion, and is currently used as the residence of Yad Levi Eshkol to commemorate the memory and work of the third Prime Minister, Levi Eshkol. עברית: שם: בית לוי אשכול, ירושלים תיאור: בית לוי אשכול הוא מבנה בשכונת רחביה בירושלים. המבנה שימש בין השנים 1950–1974 כבית ראש ממשלת ישראל, עת עבר המעון לבית אגיון, ומשמש כיום כמשכנה של יד לוי אשכול למען הנצחת זכרו ופועלו של ראש הממשלה השלישי, לוי אשכול. הערות: מבנה זה תוכנן על ידי האדריכל בנימין צ'ייקין וב-1933 הושלמה בנייתו. הוא הוקם כביתם הפרטי של יוליוס ג'ייקובס, פקיד בכיר של המנדט הבריטי וסגן מושל ירושלים ג'ייקובס נהרג ב-22 ביולי 1946 בפיצוץ מלון המלך דוד על ידי ארגון האצ"ל בשנת 1950 החליטה ממשלת ישראל לרכוש את המבנה ולהפוך אותו לבית ראש הממשלה. בית זה נבחר בשל סירובו של דוד בן-גוריון להתגורר בבית המהווה "רכוש נטוש". מיקום: ירושלים קובץ מקורי: בית אשכול 2.jpg |
