Faroese stamps 2006

In 2006, Postverk Føroya will issue the following stamps.

Deepwater fishes

Date of issue 13 February. Artist: Astrid Andreasen.

Definitives

Date of issue 13 February. This new set of definitives shows three towns at the eastern part of the island Eysturoy.

(Note: The other stamps of 2006 will be presented, when good pictures are available)

Nordic Issue 2006

Date of issue: 29 March. The samps in a miniature sheet of two are by the artist Anker Eli Petersen and show themes of the Norse mythology.

Ormurin Langi

Date of issue: 29 March. 10 stamps in a miniature sheet depicting scenes of the popular Faroese ballad Ormurin langi (The Long Serpent), written by the farmer Jens Christian Djurhuus about 1830. These are the first stamps by the Faroese artist Vígdis Sigmundsdóttir.

The Northern Isles Tunnel

Date of issue: 12 June. Artist: Edward Fuglø. The Norðoyatunnilin, connecting Leirvík on Eysturoy and Klaksvík on Borðoy opened already on 29 April 2006, but this was 3 month before the plan.
