Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Koper

This deletion discussion is now closed. Please do not make any edits to this archive. You can read the deletion policy or ask a question at the Village pump. If the circumstances surrounding this file have changed in a notable manner, you may re-nominate this file or ask for it to be undeleted.

No evidence these works would be free per COM:FOP#Slovenia. Some are out of scope: photos of oneself or their friends.

  • Would you please inform the public what could be the problem with the Azamara ship and the streets of Koper in this context? I am a great friend of Slovenia since 20 years, but your deletion frenzy disturbs me very much.--Szilas (talk) 09:42, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Which images exactly do you think are free? I'm not sure the ship design is free - I'll leave this to the community to decide. --Eleassar (t/p) 09:57, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think the photo in question is File:Azamara from the streets of Koper.jpg. You are not sure the ship design is free? So sad because you voted for the photo of the very same ship in the very same dock to be a featured picture in Slovene Wikipedia. I find your recent DRs fuzzy and incoherent.  ₪Zaplotnik  10:46, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Photo 66 is public domain, because all houses here are centuries old and their copyright is expired. Taivo (talk) 14:47, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The advertising of the bakery is copyrighted, but probably de minimis. --Eleassar (t/p) 15:14, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing copyrightable in photo 107. Taivo (talk) 14:47, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nominated for the same reason as the rest in Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Beers of Slovenia. Probably de minimis in this case. --Eleassar (t/p) 15:14, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Photo 156 consists also only old things (copyright is expired). Taivo (talk) 14:47, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Photo File:Koper (8622155967).jpg depicts building, which is copyrighted, but this does not mean, that every part of it is copyrighted. In this photo is only trivial part of house, no creativity was used when designing this part of building. Taivo (talk) 14:47, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Photo File:Koper (8622156027).jpg is about apparently old building (I decide by location and overall style), its copyrights are expired. Taivo (talk) 14:47, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Eleassar, it is a very strange working method that if you are not sure in something, you nominate it for deletion.--Szilas (talk) 16:09, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It may be, but a ship's design may be regarded as an "intellectual creative creation" (naval architecture), and these are copyrighted according to the Slovene law. The image was taken in Slovenia, and if there is no evidence that it is free per the Slovene copyright act, it should be deleted in accordance with COM:EVID and COM:PRP. --Eleassar (t/p) 06:13, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep File:Koper (52) (3958285998).jpg and File:Koper (61) (3958287506).jpg: Medusa's face is a symbol originating in Greek's mythology (can be found on Athena's shield, for instance); therefore it is not copyrighted. See this (in Slovene) for more info.  ₪Zaplotnik  21:34, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think you don't have to teach us about who or what is Medusa. This is a modern sculpture. Snail is a symbol of Višnja Gora and yet this image has been deleted. --Eleassar (t/p) 06:13, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep File:Koper, Slovenia (6843538205).jpg: nothing copyrightable because whole fountain is covered in water drops. Viewer can hardly predict the form and shape of the fountain.  ₪Zaplotnik  21:34, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is the same case as here. --Eleassar (t/p) 06:13, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I propose to delete all the Slovenia-related images from the Commons just to be on the safe side. From now on I'll travel - if I need to at all - to Slovenia without camera to avoid these very unpleasant problems. All the best for your creative work, Eleassar.--Szilas (talk) 13:27, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
