Commons:Deletion requests/File:Stonewall Inn 1969.jpg
This file was initially tagged by Bencemac as Copyvio (copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: Per ticket:2020080110000491 and Commons:Deletion requests/Files found with file:2007110510012686. Given the wide usage of this image, it may be worth searching to see if it may fall under {{PD-US-no notice}}. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 14:15, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
- The permissions are more detailed in the popup on en-wiki, but they are also right there on the Commons page. I'm not sure what the issue is. The photo was taken by Diana Davies, and she has given the copyright to the New York Public Libarary, who granted the permission to Wikipedia:

- I cannot disclose what the 2020 OTRS ticket says exactly, but it casts doubt on the validity of the original ticket. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 19:14, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
- I see the famous image of Barbara Gittings at the protest march was deleted. Was that photo also by Diana Davies? I think someone needs to contact the NYPL to clear this up. CorbieVreccan (talk) 19:29, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
- That one was by Kay Tobin Lahusen. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 19:51, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

I understand that procedures are more thorough now, but does the new ticket explicitly state that the license for this image is invalid? You see how this is a catch-22 situation. You say that the new ticket casts doubt on the validity of the original, but you can't tell us in what way, so how are we supposed to make a decision on this? Can't you at least state what the problem is without giving specifics? —howcheng {chat} 02:31, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
Keep[Updating 10 August 2020: Contact Diana Davies. This has now been used in books and online for years. I'd like to know her feelings about this being suddenly pulled. CorbieVreccan (talk) 20:02, 10 August 2020 (UTC)unless: Without an explicit statement from the New York Public Library that this is a copyvio, I say this should be kept, as should all the others under this license. We have been given no compelling reason to delete. CorbieVreccan (talk) 01:52, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Separate from questions of whether the existing licence, old OTRS, or new OTRS means we can or can't use it, does anyone want to try and contact Diana Davies and see if she could release it more clearly/cleanly? -sche (talk) 03:09, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Delete NYPL confirmed in ticket:2020080110000491 that their permission in ticket:2008080810018509 was falsified. I suggest {{Speedy}}. Ankry (talk) 18:39, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
