This file was initially tagged by Jeff G. as Copyvio (copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: DC Comics retains a valid character copyright on Superman until 2033. See Category:PD Cartoon - Superman for more information. Di (they-them) (talk) 16:59, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Keep This image simply depicts the actor in a Superman costume. It has been established multiple times on Commons that photos of people in costumes do not violate character copyright. Especially since this costume is so clearly below the Threshold of Originality. See COM:COSTUME; "However, the community has not accepted this strict view, partly in light of Ets-Hokin v. Skyy Spirits, in which a photograph of a bottle was held not to be derivative of the label on the bottle. Present consensus is that "files that merely show people cosplaying" are acceptable.". Although this is not a "cosplay", it is a simple costume, and this image simply depicts a person in costume. Di (they-them) (talk) 17:00, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Stamp Day for Superman, unlike the various other episodes of Adventures of Superman, was created and produced by the U.S. Treasury Department as a selling tool for U.S. government savings stamps and is thus in the public domain. It is for this reason that whenever clips are used to illustrate Adventures of Superman, the clips invariably come from Stamp Day for Superman because of its public domain status. - I want to point out that this is quite different than previous consensus because that regards images from a cartoon. That is not the same as a person in a costume. Commons consensus is that images of people in costumes are not derivative of the fictional characters that the costumes are of. It is why we have so many cosplay images. A person in a costume is a person in a costume, not Superman. Di (they-them) (talk) 16:47, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
