Burcombe Ivers is a linear smallish wood running along the north lower slopes of downland in the village of ?? The term 'ivers' appears to be a local name for strip copses possibly planted for protection against wind. At the west end of Burcombe Ivers is an outline of Australia carved into the chalky turf by troops in WWI. It is at present (Apr. 2018) faded but is about to undergo restoration.
