In the collaboration with China two important themes are sustainability and health. A recent visiting delegation from the Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport (Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport) and a group of Dutch health experts came to meet with their Chinese counterparts and a major topic was sustainable healthcare or green hospital development. What happens when one Dutch artist in Beijing addresses the concerns of this delegation? She gets to work! Maria Koijck creates poignant and thought-provoking works, turning discarded materials into large sculptures. Her work is informed by her transformative experience as a nurse who became a patient. When she underwent a breast cancer operation, she realized just how much waste is produced by the health industry. During her recent visit to Beijing, Maria collaborated with Chinese artists, students, cancer survivors and healthcare professionals. Together, they created community waste sculptures and participated in workshops. In below video you can see how collective effort and joy of creative expression underscore the shared themes of environmental consciousness, resilience, and the transformative power of art in personal and community healing. Did you know that a big percentage of global carbon emissions can be attributed to the medical industry, in no small part because of single-use plastic materials? Have you ever experienced a lightning-bolt realization when it came to plastic waste? The Dutch offshore energy mission successfully visited Beijing this week! The official program kicked-off on Monday with a Sino-Dutch #offshoreenergy cooperation seminar at the Embassy. This event provided an excellent platform for our delegation members to connect with key developers, research institutes, OEMs, and EPC contractors in #China. A highlight was the presentation by the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI) on the current landscape and future opportunities in China's offshore wind sector. Later that day, the delegation toured the SANY intelligent assembling factory in Beijing. The facility's cutting-edge technologies—including advanced automation, human-machine collaboration, and AI and IoT innovations—are remarkable. The delegation was received by Mr. Chen Weiguo, Vice President of the R&D center. On the second day, the delegation was received by Mr. Qin Haiyan, Secretary General of the China Wind Energy Association (CWEA). The exchange with the biggest wind association in China was fruitful and focused on the opportunities and challenges within the Chinese market. The final stop in Beijing was the Hua Neng New Energy Research Institute. Here, the mission explored the Hydrogen Lab and the Renewable Energy Intelligence O&M Center, followed by a meeting with a group of experts from the institute. The visit strengthened our ties and created new opportunities for collaboration in the offshore energy sector, including in offshore solar, floating offshore wind, energy inlands, offshore wind to hydrogen, and new innovation for cost reduction. Together, we can accelerate the energy transition to address the current climate crisis. We look forward to the innovative collaborations ahead. #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind #SinoDutchCooperation #Innovation #SustainableFuture Netherlands Enterprise Agency I wind & water works I Huub Buise I Jos van Dinther I paheerya yushan I Mattia Bertolini 潘鴻明 I Henk van Elburg I Marius Koops I Piet Warnaar I Sander des Tombe I Brunel I C-Cube International I Royal HaskoningDHV I Sif Group I Radac B.V. Today, we officially kicked off the #Dutch Language and Culture Week at the Shanghai International Studies University. After the opening ceremony, the councilor for education and science, Esmé Cartens went to the Dutch Book Salon to engage with students about their favorite books from the #BestDutchBookDesign that is now exhibited on campus. In addition to congratulatory words, Esmé Cartens underlined the importance of cultivating the ability to ask questions and critical thinking and the role of educators and institutes. Not merely for the personal growth of their students but as a tool to seek further social progress, both in China and the Netherlands. To facilitate this quest, the Dutch Embassy in Beijing, in collaboration with the Dutch Consulate General in Shanghai and SISU, put together a diverse cultural program that we hope will attract many people to learn more about Dutch language and culture. Do you want to know more about Dutch movie screenings in China or Dutch language events? Make sure to follow us and Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China on social media.
