We are pleased to report on the successful conclusion of our latest webinar, “Educational Bridge: Bariatric Discovery,” which took place on September 26, 2024. This webinar, a collaborative effort by IntoCare Medical and our Partner, DMB Medical, gathered a panel of distinguished experts to explore the evolving landscape of bariatric surgery. Dr. Bart Smet shared his extensive experience with laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, highlighting its effectiveness in achieving long-term weight loss and improving metabolic health. He discussed the evolving landscape of bariatric surgery, emphasizing the need for standardized procedures and long-term follow-up to ensure optimal patient outcomes. MUDr. Jan Cagas presented his center’s approach to metabolic surgery, emphasizing a complex and tailored approach. He shared their experience with various procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and discussed the importance of revisional surgery for patients with weight regain. Prof. Weihua Yu from Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, China, who shared insights on the clinical application of robotic-assisted bariatric surgery. Prof. Yu highlighted the advantages of robotic surgery in terms of precision and visualization, but also acknowledged the challenges associated with cost and training. Prof. Zhiyong Dong from The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, addressed the challenging topic of severe obesity in patients with liver cancer. He emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and discussed various treatment strategies, including surgery, chemotherapy, and weight management. The webinar concluded with a lively discussion session, where participants exchanged ideas and shared their experiences. The event served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of bariatric surgery.
