Yesterday (November 5) we celebrated UK #ProBonoWeek by hosting a panel event for students from The University of Manchester. Our pro bono manager Alun Griffith explained the different types of pro bono work carried out across the firm and colleagues Joel Clarke and Christelle E. shared their experiences of pro bono volunteering. Alun, Joel and Christelle also discussed their journeys into law and answered Q&As from students. We were delighted to host our annual Eversheds Sutherland Asia Pacific Alliance (ESAPA) Summit in Hong Kong on October 31. This year was particularly special as we celebrated ten Years of ESAPA. We were thrilled to celebrate our 15th Anniversary in Hong Kong with 300 clients, colleagues, friends, and visiting partners from around the world at our Annual Client Cocktail reception last Wednesday. 🥳 The evening was filled in equal measure with champagne, canapés, live music and wonderful company, all set against the magnificent Hong Kong skyline view from the spectacular Cardinal Point rooftop! We also had fantastic caricature artists who captured the spirit of the night with personalised (and occasionally less than flattering) sketches for our guests. Co-lead of Congressional Investigations Neal Higgins is quoted in a recent Nextgov/FCW article discussing Russian efforts to destabilize American democracy through election-related disinformation, including while votes are being cast and counted. “The Russians have made clear that they are determined to use disinformation to undermine American democracy. Our Unlocked programme has been running across a number of our UK offices since 2008, with the support of The Sutton Trust and applications are now open for our 2025 programme. The programme is virtual and aimed at Year 12 students who have academic potential and an interest in law, but who may believe that a legal career is out of their reach. We're here to prove that it isn't. Over three days, Year 12 students will engage in a range of different activities to help them think about the actions they need to take to get to where they want to be in their career, both in the short term and the long term.
