[When Design Thinking meets AI] #Designthinking, a human-centered approach to problem-solving, has long been a key driver of #innovation across various industries. Big thank you to Prof. Andy Chun for showing us how integrating #AI in the design thinking process can help us gain deeper insights and generate innovative solutions at a faster pace. We also had a delightful entree from Eric Byron: Juggling has kept his creative juice flowing. Congrats to the workshop participants for generating fruitful ideas to the challenge of providing education outreach to low-income families. The idea of having mobile services for special learning needs children and their families was the participants' favorite. How might we turn this into reality? 🙏 🙏 Dorothy Lam, Dream Impact / ESG Innovation Lab for hosting the workshop. "Social" is a lot more than CSR and short start 'internally' in every organisation. Let's work together to support the #reskilling and #upskilling of our workforce.

But one message is clear: You are not alone. We are all in this together! And it is the mindset and not the technology that can drive positive changes in how we learn. Check out the synopsis here: bit.ly/4binA2M 🙏 to the educators panel: Andrew Chiu, Ka tim Chu, Irwin King, Kam Yuen Law, Siu-Cheung Kong and the panel scribe Eric Byron 🙏 And the L&D panel: Karen F., Charles Ho, Sean McMinn, Tony Wu and Agnes Wong

[Future of Learning in the AI Era: The Singapore Experience] #Singapore is the world’s second most talent competitive country and the leader in Asia. At the #GetstartedwithAI forum, David Yeo (Founder of Kydon Group) outlined Singapore’s holistic manpower development policy, governing and supporting the use of technology from #K12 education, #postsecondary education to #continuing education. Yeo pointed out that the #futureoflearning in the AI era should move from: (1) learning management to knowledge exploitation (2) contents curated by organisations/vendors to AI generated and curated contents (3) passive attendance of online courses to skills development through problem solving and (4) silo systems to connected networks AI is not a tool but part and parcel of the future of work. “There will be challenges and risks as we learn how to embrace AI but you will lag behind if you are not #experimenting,” said David. Check out his talk in this video.

[Essential skills in the age of AI] The government’s #DigitalEconomyDevelopment Committee has recommended amongst other things a holistic manpower strategy to enhance the #digitalliteracy of the workforce and the community. At the #GetstartedwithAI forum last week, Prof Rose Luckin highlighted the need not just to develop #AI literacy, but more importantly #humanintelligence in the digital age. “Educators should lead the way in developing advanced human intelligence through the development of students with sophisticated thinking expertise,” she stressed. Check out her talk in this video.

[Piloting a social robot in Hong Kong: looking for sponsors and volunteers] 🌈Meet #Moxie, an #AI-powered #socialrobot, a companion, a mentor and a tutor to #kids aged 5 - 10. Moxie can help children grow emotionally, socially and academically. It has endless compassion, unlimited patience and extensive knowledge. Together with Moxie, kids can develop their #emotionalintelligence, #healthyhabits, #communication, #problemsolving and #creativethinking skills. Thanks to Paolo Pirjanian and his Embodied, Inc. team for giving birth to Moxie. Next year Moxie can also support #academiclearning and will be available in #Asia. Dr Fanny Wai Fan Lam, a specialist in developmental behavior paediatrics, has been using Moxie as her 'assistant' in the last two years. Watch this video to see how Moxie helps Dr Lam, her staff and children at her centre. Esperanza is working with Dr Lam to pilot the use of Moxie with #NGOs in Hong Kong. If the pilot is successful, we hope Moxie can be #localised so that it can benefit more children and families in Hong Kong. "AI and human collaboration is the future. Moxie makes learning fun and more effective for children. But localisation is important. We appeal to the support of #foundations and like-minded organisations," said Gloria Chan, an education consultant, a retired school principal and an Esperanza director. We are also looking for #volunteers in this pilot. You will be trained to conduct sessions with Moxie and the children. Ping us if you are interested in learning more.
