North Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has undergone a transformation to bring this 1960s-era school into the modern age to better support enhanced learning opportunities for its students. This design approach revitalizes the entire campus, turning it into a vibrant, next-generation place of learning. A key highlight of the project is the addition of a new healthcare education hub, which serves as a cornerstone for the school's expanded curriculum. This facility now stands as one of the county’s two state-certified testing centers for the Certified Nursing Assistant program. This renovation not only preserves the school's legacy but also positions it as a leader in preparing students for future success. Mesa County Valley School District 51 opens the doors to Grand Junction High School in Colorado. The replacement school, designed in collaboration with local architect Blythe Group co., offers students and staff a design that connects all its users. Watie White, our fourth feature for #AmericanArtistAppreciationMonth, is an artist who intertwines community engagement with personal transformation in his work. His installation at Boys Town Education Center in Boys Town, Nebraska, stands as a testament to this – capturing the essence of art as both a personal and collective experience. Through a series of in-depth interviews with students, alumni, and staff, Watie created a stunning installation of 580 butterflies, each uniquely painted by members of the Boys Town community. Hidden caterpillars and chrysalises within the mural symbolize the ongoing journey of growth and transformation that we all experience. Reflecting on the project, Watie shared, "I wanted to find an unexpected opportunity to recognize and honor the individuality of specific participants, and in doing so, they consistently seem to grow and transform over time." Transformation is a core theme in Watie's art, whether in public spaces or his studio creations.
