Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic has summoned a provisional squad of 45 players to intensity preparations for five international build up matches in Europe and Asia due this month.
The squad of six goalkeepers, seventeen defenders, eight midfielders and fourteen strikers named this Monday consists of two professional players in goalkeepers Charles Lukwago (St George, Ethiopia) and Ismail Watenga (Chippa United, South African).
Uganda Cranes is scheduled to play five international buildup games, three in Europe against Iceland, Botosani and Moldova in Turkey.
The Cranes will then play the other buildups in Asia; against Iraq in Baghdad and Bahrain in Bahrain city.
The National team was initially scheduled for two intentional matches against AFCON bound sides Gabon and Mauritania on 30th December 2021 and 2nd January 2022 respectively in Abu Dhabi before FUFA cancelled the trip due to travel challenges arising from the travel ban on all flights from Uganda due to COVID-19.
Micho is assembling a team that will competitively get engaged in several upcoming engagements such as the TOTAL AFCON 2023 and TOTAL CHAN 2022 qualifiers and believes that such international buildups are a perfect measure for early preparations.
