Baranavichy Activists Revive Memory Of Ivan Serada

The head of the BPR Rada was born in this area.

Baranavichy enthusiasts and activists of the Belarusian Language Association have started the work to restore the historical memory of their famous compatriot, Chairman of the BPR Rada Ivan Serada, Radio Racyja reports.

Ivan Serada was born in the village of Zadveya in the Baranavichy district, says Mikalai Padhayski, Deputy Chairman of the local branch of the Belarusian Language Association:

- We found a suitable large stone in the quarry, some 30 kilometers from this place, agreed with the management of the quarry, hired a car, and brought this stone to the village. The place was supposed to be where the father of Ivan Serada, who was a priest, once served. There was a church and we left this stone there. All this was rather difficult.

According to Mikalai Padhayski, the activists have developed a whole plan to beautify the historic site so that it becomes attractive to tourists.

If funding is not found, then the work will be carried out at their own expense.
