Bugaboo, a well-known luxury stroller company with a 20-year history in over 53 global markets, stood at a crossroads. The rise of nimble, innovative challenger brands upped the competition. Despite Bugaboo’s impressive track record, they grappled with outdated eCommerce practices that didn’t fit the evolving digital landscape. Bugaboo didn’t just aim for eCommerce; they wanted a constant digital brand presence. In response, Bugaboo teamed up with Chameleon Collective for a complete digital makeover.

Lead:

Our journey began by bringing in an interim Chief Digital Officer to create a forward-looking digital strategy for Bugaboo. This role, crucial to the brand’s renewal, was backed by other Chameleon Collective leaders focusing on creative direction, tech evaluation, and aligning Bugaboo’s brand and digital teams. They worked alongside Bugaboo’s existing CMO to adopt digital best practices and make the most of the brand’s strengths. The plan included reorganizing teams, investing in technology, and creating a growth model.

Deliver:

With a strong sense of what modern consumers want and a clear vision, Chameleon Collective brought together a team from inside and outside sources. This included experts in data, branding, user experience, software engineering, and growth marketing. Recognizing the value of ongoing digital interaction, we dived into Bugaboo’s customer journey, creating tailored strategies across digital platforms. Bugaboo transformed from sporadic product launches to an always-present digital brand, seen everywhere from display ads to email campaigns. At the same time, “Bugabootique” – Bugaboo’s in-house content studio – came to life, with Chameleon Collective leading the way. We placed key roles like an Executive Creative Director and a Brand Director to organize the studio, streamline creative workflows, and find the right talent. Alongside this, we tackled various eCommerce and marketing tech projects. We carefully combined in-house skills with outside expertise to ensure smooth and timely execution. One major move was building an in-house growth marketing and social media team at Bugaboo. We supported this team with Chameleon Collective’s specialists, from affiliate marketing experts to paid search pros. Working in harmony with external agencies, we boosted Bugaboo’s digital media impact. To wrap things up, our marketing process experts worked closely with Bugaboo’s global brand marketing team. Together, we modernized workflows, adding efficiency and dynamism. Our collaboration culminated in an in-person event in Amsterdam, where teams immersed themselves in multi-day training sessions. The result? A comprehensive marketing and digital alignment playbook, guiding every team member through the brand’s rapidly changing landscape.

Recruit:

To ensure long-term success, we focused on giving Bugaboo the talent and skills needed for sustainable growth. This involved defining crucial roles in their digital and commerce teams and closely collaborating with Bugaboo’s in-house recruiting team to find and onboard new experts. We put together a full suite of guides, processes, and training tools to keep Bugaboo’s digital momentum going.
