I had similar observation on RWE research in Japan as well, e.g, some universities have high-quality data from disease registries, but without the desires and interests working with pharma and biotech industry. With a well known academic leader, we are exploring the opportunities of connecting the dots, i.e., what we call “Translational” research in data science.

I’ve been learning a lot about ADCs at BIOPLUS-INTERPHEX KOREA (BIX 2024), which reminded me of this paper I read recently. 'The antibody–drug conjugate landscape' explores the latest advancements in ADCs, highlighting novel payloads, enhanced binding affinity, and improved therapeutic outcomes. Particularly, 'Next-gen ADC carriers' are engineered to reduce off-tissue toxicities and increase tumor-specific exposure by optimizing antigen binding affinity and using peptide masks cleaved by tumor-specific proteases. During the past two days, I met many Chinese RWD leaders, e.g., CEO of 1MData, cofounder of Happy Life Tech, CEO of BrainPower, ex-President of Inspur, and on Sunday, I will meet the CEO of LinkDoc. Three years ago, I organized “The League of Data Heroes” in China. They were my Crane, Monkey, Snake, Praying Mantis and Tiger. Three years later, I asked my old friends, are you still happy working on data science? Well, it’s hard to survive and flourish on RWD/E in China. They worry about US-China data wars; new management office of data assets in China; hospitals tightening data utility; too many RWD feasibility without RWE awards, etc. The furious five and I believe RWD/E is the future of medicine, but how far in the future? Can we see it?
