Approximately 80% of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) humanitarian caseload and 70% of disease outbreaks occur in Fragile, Conflict-affected, and Vulnerable (FCV) settings. Armed conflict not only obstructs equitable healthcare delivery but also disrupts health systems—causing the collapse of medical supply chains, the exodus of healthcare workers, attacks on healthcare, and spikes in disease outbreaks and food insecurity. In response to these urgent challenges, WHO launched the Global Health and Peace Initiative (GHPI) in November 2019. The goal? To tackle the underlying drivers of health needs in fragile, conflict-affected, and vulnerable settings and address social determinants of health that exacerbate inequalities. Join us for the first session of our webinar series, where we’ll provide an overview of the GHPI and showcase what Health and Peace programming looks like through a WHO-IOM project in Cameroon: https://bit.ly/4ezSUvU
