Sustainable agricultural practices and innovative crop solutions have the potential to help farmers boost profitability and secure better livelihoods, while enhancing sustainability. 🌿 Today, we're spotlighting Ms. Sumalee Duangjin, a farmer from Chiang Mai, Thailand, who has transformed her farming journey as part of Syngenta Thailand's ‘Grow Well Eat Well’ project. Specializing in salad vegetables, Sumalee makes sure her produce meets the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards. 🥗 Since November 2023, Sumalee's profits have soared - earning two to five times her initial investment. This has enabled her to pay off debts and reinvest in greenhouses, to grow better and more sustainably. She has also deepened her knowledge of safe crop protection and has found our Isabion® bio-stimulant to be a great addition to her growing journey. #SyngentaProud #Agriculture #GrowWellEatWell #SustainableFarming

In just six months, a team of six Brazilian Syngenta researchers achieved what would normally take years, rescuing their nation’s soybean crops from a crippling crisis. Facing losses of up to 45% in some regions – and with Brazil being one of the largest soy-producing countries – our scientists raced against time to uncover the mysterious anomaly behind the widespread decay and measure its devastating impact. Through their research, they discovered the first effective control measures against the decay. This groundbreaking achievement earned them the 2023 Syngenta Science & Technology Prize, a recognition that celebrates innovative breakthroughs by Syngenta’s scientists in solving agriculture’s toughest challenges. Our next Crops & Cultures series is here, with a new look and a new destination! This time we're exploring an important African food producer with strong roots in its rural communities: Zambia. Zambia's rain-fed agriculture is heavily impacted by climate change. Frequent extreme weather events like floods, droughts, and pest infestations can significantly reduce crop yields every year. We believe supporting all farmers builds sustainable food systems, advances food security and helps to achieve zero hunger globally. In Zambia, we’re working hand-in-hand with resilient growers like Christine Ngoma to better support them with greenhouse vegetable seedling growing, sales service, technical support, and more. Discover more about Zambia’s agricultural landscape. 👇 #SustainableAgriculture #Agriculture #Zambia

In our ongoing commitment to a #sustainable food system, we were recently invited to participate in several Louis Dreyfus Company Field Days in the U.S., where we provided support to growers through insights from agronomists and other experts, emphasizing the pivotal role of #SoilHealth in ensuring high-quality food and robust farm productivity. We recognize that it all starts and ends with the soil! Thank you, LDC.

Summers in the western corn belt of the U.S. can be a bittersweet experience for farmers. While warmer months bring ideal growing conditions, growers are also on alert for storms that can hit fields and cause corn stalks to break. This is known as 'greensnap' and is the reason why selecting the right hybrid that's more resilient to protect against greensnap is critical. Our corn R&D trialing team has incorporated a game-changing approach to replicate the winds from these storms. Using helicopters to simulate these damaging winds, they can test how well our pre-commercial hybrids withstand greensnap. With much needed and precise data collection, we have now scaled this globally. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/ds6PVgMS #Innovation #Corn #Agriculture #Greensnap

Our commitment to innovation is driven by the pioneering work of our scientists, who empower farmers worldwide to overcome challenges – like the devastating Fall Armyworm. This relentless pest wreaked havoc on Australian crops during the 2024 season, but thanks to the efforts of Syngenta Fellow Dr. Hyunsook Chae, there's now a powerful solution on the horizon. Dr. Chae and her team have worked on the Viptera® trait stack, an effective above-ground insect control for corn crops. This ground-breaking work earned her our prestigious Science & Technology Prize. Now in its 21st year, this award celebrates our scientists' cutting-edge work across the life sciences, and their exceptional research that drives our mission to feed the world safely and sustainably.
