🎊🚀Long live Ariane 6! The ESA rocket successfully launched tonight, and we'd like to take this incredible opportunity to congratulate our Swiss members of Space Innovation, who were instrumental in making this launch a success. Congratulations to APCO Technologies SA, who contributed to the manufacture of the launchers and the production of parts of the boosters, as well as the transport of the rocket's components; to Beyond Gravity, who were responsible for the production of the rocket's nose cone; and Parker Meggitt. Wonderful job! Images credits: Ariane 6 before wet dress rehearsal, European Space Agency - ESA, L. Bourgeon / APCO Technologies SA ArianeGroup

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting the unlimitrust Campus alongside the eSpace - EPFL Space Center and Space Innovation. Our head, Grégoire Bourban, presented the space industry in Switzerland, followed by Claude Nicollier’s presentation on European Space Agency - ESA Switzerland and human spaceflight. RUAG gave us an interesting presentation about their current work and their contributions to the space sector. We also had the opportunity to meet with 3 innovative startups on the campus and discover the work they are doing to advance the space industry, such as: - DPhi Space - AICA SA - Inpher Connecting with various actors in the space domain is always enriching and creates connections for a promising future of Swiss-made space projects! 🛰 🇨🇭 A big thank you to SICPA for organizing this wonderful visit!

Space Innovation was delighted to participate to Logitech's event "Reaching for the stars: agents of change in STEM" (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The EPFL Space Center welcomed Aisha Bowe - Blue Origin astronaut & CEO of Lingo, Grace Lokako - host of the Logitech #womenwhomaster event, Nelly (Kosi) Cheboi 🤗 - Founder & CEO of Techlot Africa and winner of the 2022 CNN hero award, and Leddy - the star of Logitech #womenwhomaster encouraging women to work in STEM. They were accompanied by Martine Harmel - Space Innovation operations coordinator, and the one and only Claude Nicollier. Thank you for these inspiring moments of sharing!

Congratulations, Gruyère Space Program team! 👏 #colibri
For the #first time, #students have completely designed, built, and #flown a #rocket #hopper! 🚀 We have conducted our first attempt at a #tethered flight of #Colibri. The flight went according to plan, the vehicle ascended to 1m above its #launch position, hovered for 8 seconds before shutting down its engine and being caught by the safety harness. The total flight duration was 10 seconds, long enough to demonstrate the #throttling capability of our engine, as well as #attitude and position #control provided by the thrust vector control and reaction control system. We have gathered all the #data we wanted and are currently pursuing all the improvements we can implement before the second flight. This flight is a major milestone for our project and it certainly would not have been possible to get to this point without the help of our #sponsors. We would like to thank all the people that have supported us and believed in our team for the past 3 years. 💪 It has been a long journey and a lot of work still lies ahead of us, but this accomplishment is a great start for our tethered test #flight #campaign! 🔥 #Next up will be more flights to validate our systems and make adjustments before moving to launch and landing tests without the stilts. Congratulations! #EarthCARE
We have a mission! #EarthCARE lift-off, AOS and solar array deployment successful! 🚀📡⚡️✔️ At 00:20 CEST on 29 May, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with EarthCARE successfully launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, US. A little less than an hour later acquisition of signal (AOS) was established with Hartebeesthoek ground station in South Africa right on time at 01:12 CEST. Soon after, confirmation followed that the solar array was deployed and the satellite can keep its batteries going.
