Soleva - The Solar Electric Van

During our visit at Departement Technik OST we had the chance to meet Tanya Müller García, ex-minister of environment of the city of Mexico. We showed Mrs. Garcia around our solar van and shared thoughts about our common passion for sustainable mobility. We then attended Mrs. Garcia's speech where she shared her experience as a minister. She has a science background and decided to turn to politics to have a bigger impact. During her years as a minister she decided to get things done and was not afraid to take on the press. She managed to improve Mexico's air quality significantly and developed a huge cycling network. Very inspiring ! With that additional motivation, we continue our journey to inspire people to travel more sustainably and to take on their personal projects to have a positive impact 😎

Five Weeks on the Road with Soleva's Solar Electric Van! 🚐🌞 When we embarked on this journey, we were told it would be extremely challenging to complete the electric tour with significant solar energy, and that frequent use of charging stations would be inevitable. Despite facing far from ideal weather at the start 🌧️, which required us to use charging stations five times in the first two weeks due to daily events across various regions, we successfully travelled 2/3 of the country with our electric bus on a tight schedule. For the past two weeks, we have now been 100% reliant on our own solar energy 🌞, even with rigorous drives with more than 600km through the valleys of #Graubünden and #Ticino. Here are some real-world measurements compared to our initial expectations and projections: - Maximum solar power measured: 5.3kW (for 5.1kWp nominal with our CSEM and EPFL PV-lab panels) ✅ - Energy consumption in mixed driving (50-80km/h): 21kWh/100km Autonomy of our fully charged battery: 260km ✅ - Highest solar energy production in a single day: 32kWh -> 155km of autonomy ✅ With the summer sun finally here, it looks like we will be able to remain fully solar-powered until the end of the tour. Great event in Landquart with CSEM and Kinderlab Landquart . Thanks for organising this opportunity along our Solar Swiss Tour. Combining our solar powered van with a lot of great visualisations of solar energy made it great for kids to understand the opportunities for the future. Maybe a few of them go home and ask their parents why their house is not yet solar powered or why they are not driving an EV. 🚐🔋🌞

Biken 🚵♂️ Wandern 🏃♀️ Baden 🏊♀️ oder einfach Erholen 🏖 , während der Reisebus seinen Strom für die Weiterfahrt selber produziert - so macht Reisen noch mehr Freude 😎 Soleva - The Solar Electric Van macht das möglich. Auf ihrer Roadtour durch die Schweiz machten Curdin Wüthrich, Sara Bossuyt und Matthieu Bourgois mit ihrem autarken Solar Electric Van in Landquart Halt. Mit dem CSEM, Kinderlab Landquart, Energiestadt Landquart und dem Technopark Graubünden konnte ein attraktives Rahmenprogramm auf die Beine gestellt werden. Am Kurzseminar im Technopark sprach Curdin Wüthrich über ihre Beweggründe einen alten Diesel-Van 🚎zu einem umweltfreundlichen, autarken Solar-Van 🚐 umzubauen. Er zeigte aber auch auf, welche Philosophie hinter dem Projekt steckt und welche Botschaft sie auf ihrer Tour durch die Schweiz vermitteln möchten. Der Bus war dann DER Blickfang auf dem Bahnhofplatz in Landquart, es ergaben sich viele gute Gespräche und viele Fragen wurden beantwortet. Daneben bot das Kinderlab Landquart zusammen mit dem CSEM Landquart (CSEM Neuchâtel war Projektpartner von SOLEVA) den kleinen und grossen Besucher:innen an, bei Experimenten die Kraft der Sonne 🌞 zu erleben und auch gleich ein Mini-Kraftwerk in Form einer solarbetriebenen Libelle zu basteln und mit nach Hause zu nehmen. Mit den Energiestadt-Unterlagen zu den Förderprogrammen, Gartentipps in Bezug auf Neophyten und weitere Themen konnten sich die Interessierten ebenfalls am Stand eindecken. 🌟 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬-𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬-𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫 🌟 🚀 Did you know that buildings and vehicles can produce and share energy together? 🚀   Last Friday, we had an inspiring encounter with the Minergie -A building StadtparkPLUS in Wetzikon, a remarkable plus-energy house conceived and built by Arento AG. Thanks to the photovoltaic systems on the roof and facade, it produces more energy annually than needed for households, heating, and electromobility. ⚡🏠   🔋 Highlights of the meeting: -       The energy system at StadtparkPLUS is similar to that of Sunny, our camper van : both consist of a solar array, a battery, and an inverter to connect to the electricity grid. It just doesn't have an engine 🚐🔋⚡ -       The building can charge the electric camper van and vice versa, with the camper capable of feeding solar energy back into the building when needed, functioning as an external battery. 🌞🔄🔋 -       The vehicle's battery, with almost 58 kWh, is nearly as large as the one in the building (78 kWh) and could therefore cover the daily household electricity needs. 🌍 This meeting demonstrated how cutting-edge technologies can collaborate to ensure a round-the-clock solar energy supply. 🌟🔋⚡ 🔍 Curious?
