Corentin Chofflon has been a worthy representative of Swiss youth on an international platform such as the Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP). With a project that analyses the effects of climate change on local water supply in alpine environments, the Swiss finalist has been able to draw the attention of many stakeholders to a problem that should concern us all, as the need to take preventive measures to avoid potential future water supply problems concerns us all. Corentin worked hard to prepare in the months leading up to the SJWP final. Once in Stockholm, Corentin not only faced the international jury with aplomb but also had the opportunity to participate in various forums, study tours and exchanges with water experts during the International Water Week, bringing the voice of Swiss youth to Stockholm. The SJWP brings together bright young minds from all over the world for one week and allows them to spend time together in a unique environment, creating strong bonds of friendship. The Swiss representative made the most of this opportunity, was highly appreciated by his fellow co-finalists and left an excellent impression on the event organisers. We are proud of Corentin Chofflon, an excellent ambassador of the Swiss youth, and will gladly continue to provide him with exchange opportunities in the Swiss water sector. Great interaction today for Corentin Chofflon at the Swiss Water Partnership. In a session focused on empowering youth, Delphine Magara presented the various youth-led activities of the #SWP_YOUTH and highlighted the Water Challenges, including testimonials from the 2023 winners. Corentin Chofflon presented his award-winning project to an interested audience and exchanged with some of the attendees afterwards. His tool for mapping the water supply situation for the huts in the Swiss Alps generated interest among the participants of the session and gave rise to interesting discussions that went beyond the scope of Corentin´s work, for instance, methods to dispose of wastewater in alpine environments in a sustainable way. It was evident that the retreat of glaciers, the decrease in permafrost and changes in precipitation patterns are of concern to Swiss water experts and are a clear example of the need for adaptation caused by the effects of climate change around the globe. We are thankful to the Swiss Water Partnership for their continuous support of the prize and for always providing exchange opportunities for the winners with water experts and enthusiasts. It was a big day at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize. The finalists had the opportunity to showcase their projects and discuss their findings with the international jury during the interview day. It takes profound knowledge of their subject and expertise to highlight the relevance of a research work that started no less than 2 years earlier in only 15 minutes. Corentin Chofflon presented his work about the water supply situation in alpine environments and held interesting discussions with all members of the jury. With his research and findings, he underlined that even a water-rich environment like the Swiss Alps shows signs of water stress in comparison with the past and that anticipation and flexibility are necessary to manage water needs and avoid economic losses. We congratulate Corentin for mastering the interview day and attracting attention to a global problem exemplified by a local case study in the Swiss mountain huts. The serious work starts tomorrow, on the 25th of August, with the project presentations in front of an international jury. For Corentin, as well as all finalists, two years of work are summarized in a 5-minute presentation and then defended by answering the jury's questions. If you are attending World Water Week, come to level 4 on Sunday and listen to the presentations of these incredible young talents! We wish Corentin all the best for his interviews with the jury and hope that he gains valuable lessons from this experience. Best of luck! ✨ Inspiring Young Talent: Corentin Chofflon’s Water Research ✨ Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Corentin Chofflon, this year’s winner of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize | Switzerland and recent graduate of Collège St-Michel / Kollegium St. Michael. Corentin presented his research to our community of water experts and enthusiasts as part of a special coaching session. His remarkable work involved mapping 17 mountain huts in the Swiss Alps, analyzing their water resource management, and proposing sustainable solutions to keep these huts open year-round. As climate change exacerbates water scarcity, even in our naturally water-rich Alps, Corentin’s research is both timely and critical. Next up, Corentin will represent Switzerland at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize hosted by the SIWI - Stockholm International Water Institute, where he will compete with 28 other projects from around the globe. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and are confident he will make a significant impact on this international stage. Let’s all wish Corentin the best of luck in Stockholm! A big thank you to everyone who joined us in St. Gallen and online for this session🙏 You can show your support for Corentin by voting for him in the People’s Choice Award: https://lnkd.in/d8za2-EN #YoungTalent #WaterResearch #WaterScarcity #Stockholm #Coaching #ClimateChange
