🌍 Global Production Academy 2024: Third Site Visit at IMS Gear | Zahnrad & Getriebetechnik. Weltweit. This week, we had the pleasure of visiting IMS Gear for the third meeting of the #GlobalProductionAcademy 2024, an exchange platform for international production managers in collaboration with wbk Institut für Produktionstechnik, KIT. 🤝 Our discussions centered on a crucial topic: knowledge transfer in global manufacturing networks. The exchange was rich with ideas on how to and how not to share expertise across sites. We discussed the academic foundations as well as projects from practice to guarantee a smooth transfer internationally across all levels of production. 💡  The plant tour was truly outstanding, showcasing IMS Gear's cutting-edge manufacturing processes and commitment to excellence. 🚀 A huge thank you to IMS Gear for going above and beyond, making the experience both insightful and enjoyable. 🙌 We’re looking forward to continuing the journey together in November. #KnowledgeTransfer #ManufacturingExcellence #GlobalProductionAcademy #IMSGear

How should industrial companies leverage AI for their service business model? This crucial question was the focus of our discussions at the Innosuisse research project meeting at Spielfeld Digital Hub in Berlin, hosted by Roland Berger.   Key takeaways from the presentations and the discussions with the project partners: - While application areas are numerous, value creation from AI faces challenges in data quality, quantity, and model development. - As a result, AI is prioritized for internal use cases and efficiency improvements. - AI costs (licenses, development, other resources) add up quickly, requiring strategic management and prioritization to keep the costs in check. - A few industry leaders are adding AI to their service offerings, but these are not yet translating into new or higher revenue streams. - Dependencies of large tech companies and the associated risks are high, leading to significant legal discussions and costs.   With insights from industry guests Accelleron and appliedAI Initiative GmbH, we explored the implications of AI in industrial services. [Research Project: Risk Management in Global Production Networks] The fourth meeting with our project partners Endress Hauser Gruppe, Weidmann Electrical Technology, Phoenix Contact and IT-Logix AG took place in Bern two weeks ago. The project focuses on developing intelligent software for proactive risk management in production networks. During the meeting, we reviewed the first prototype developed by IT-Logix and discussed the final steps of the project for the commercialization of the software product.   We are looking forward to implementing the outcomes of our research and seeing its impact on improving the resilience of production networks.   If you are interested, please feel free to get in touch with Benedikt Saretz.
