In a single month, the mobile version of Dungeon & Fighter made more than top Supercell games make in a year. Tencent market value went up by $91B - the biggest stock boost in China of 2024. Dungeon & Fighter, with lifetime revenues of over $22B, is one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time. SensorTower recently clocked the first month iOS revenue for DnF Mobile at $270M. Niko Partners estimated the grand total, including Android, to be $500M and speculation in the China press has been closer to $700M. Not the biggest launch of all time if we include hit premium titles like GTA and Hogwarts Legacy but, I believe it is the biggest mobile launch to date. Tentpole launches at this scale on any platform are rare in free-to-play versus premium where promotion and sales are concentrated into the debut weeks. But this is Tencent, expertly wielding a monster IP in its home market where the company enjoys a host of unique distribution advantages. By any measure though, it is damned impressive and continues to underline the dynamism of games as an asset class and energize our digital entertainment thesis at Transcend.
