He streamlined his workflow, replacing 15 rack spaces worth of esoteric monitoring controllers, mastering converters, tracking converters and external mic pres with Hapi and Anubis. Everything Nate has mastered since 2020 has been with either Anubis, Hapi or both. “Anubis surprised me with a sweeter, more refined and MUCH cleaner sound than what I was used to. No brittle edginess, and a front-to-back depth that I had personally never heard in an interface mic pre. As a leading spatial audio designer, he’s created innovative soundscapes for film, TV and music, and held commendable positions at Sennheiser and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Henrik’s new space empowers him to record almost anywhere off-grid. The mobile studio is a converted van built on technology from Sennheiser, Georg Neumann GmbH and Merging Technologies. This includes Sennheiser’s AMBEO Cube with eight Sennheiser MKH 800 twin microphones, up to seven Neumann KH80 loudspeakers, MA1 speaker correction software, and Merging’s Anubis & HAPI. Presenting Merging user Laurent Chassaigne from France 🇫🇷 With 35 years of experience as a sound engineer, Laurent works with Father and Son Foley artists Naudin Gadou and Louis Naudin. Their studio has been designed in a normal house. They developed their Foley in location philosophy and proved that doing Foley in real but controlled house acoustic leads to great results! Acoustic is the core of their craftsmanship, and it led them to innovate with this studio concept. Blockbusters like John Wick: Chapter 4 and hit series’ like Sugar on Apple TV have benefited from Laurent and his studios’ expertise. Laurent started with Pyramix back in 2000 and enjoyed the ease of transport and editing. Since then Merging Technologies has been a really important part of the quality of their work, primarily because of the quality of the preamps. This led them to acquire Hapi interfaces, each containing an Ad8p card. Abu Dhabi-based BarCoe Studios expands with Neumann and Merging equipment 🙌 BarCoe Studios’ acoustic design is matched by the choice of equipment. This made Georg Neumann GmbH the go-to partner. It is fully equipped with a state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 setup, with aspirations to expand to a 9.1.6 configuration. Merging Technologies Anubis is the main hub for routing and control, utilising an AES67 network. Only then could the process of aligning the loudspeakers to the room be completed and checked using the MA-1 before playback and listening. The design process for the main control room required Sennheiser’s TAE members Ryan Burr and Marcus Blight to use Dolby’s DAARDT room configuration tool to come up with the optimum loudspeaker configuration. #ThrowbackThursday to Neumann Hear Now 2024 at the The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts 🔙 At the start of last June, industry leaders and budding professionals gathered at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Day one was dedicated to the Dolby Event, while day two highlighted the Neumann Hear Now 2024. Both days were hosted by Georg Neumann GmbH and Dolby Europe alongside a host of their partners including The Ivors Academy , LIPA, The Music Producers Guild and Merging Technologies. Together they showcased the latest advancements in Neumann products and Dolby Atmos technology while providing knowledge and experiences for the attendees. The event was a mix of technical demonstrations and insightful presentations, all set against the backdrop of LIPA’s state-of-the-art facilities. Presenting Merging user John D. S. Adams from Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦 John is a Senior Music Producer/Engineer at Stonehouse Sound. Throughout his career, he has worked across a variety of disciplines from location/onsite music recording to editing, mixing, and mastering. Recently he finished work on the complete Schubert solo piano sonatas, performed by Mathieu Gaudet. This was recorded and mixed entirely using Merging Technologies hardware and software in Stereo and Dolby Atmos 7.1.4. Merging Technologies hardware and software have been an integral part of his professional workflow since 2006, beginning with Pyramix. Since then he’s become a Horus and Anubis user, both of which are integrated into his Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 mixing room. John describes his experience of Merging products - “The Merging Technologies hardware products have allowed me to very quickly transition from production in Stereo to full production in 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Anubis has become the central unit for speaker control of both stereo and Atmos speaker configurations (calibrated with SoundID Reference), binaural and stereo headphone monitoring and talkback.
