Info

In the world of large-scale pharmaceutical projects, successful project delivery often hinges on how well stakeholders work together. Traditional contracting models, like the Integrated Form of Agreement (IFOA), have long been seen as a gold standard for ensuring alignment between owners, engineering firms, and trade partners in other industries. When a full shift to an IFOA contract wasn’t feasible, Merck, IPS-Integrated Project Services, Hatzel & Buehler, Inc., and others teamed up to create innovative incentive structures that align goals across owner, EPCM, and trade partners. The result? A more collaborative, efficient approach to IPD projects without the need for a complete contract overhaul. Join our speaking session at the Lean Construction Institute (US) Annual Congress TODAY at 1:30 pm EST to learn how this project team overcame challenges to build stronger collaborations and better project outcomes.

It's not often you meet someone whose impact transcends both their professional and personal life. David Novak is one of those rare individuals. Yesterday, he was awarded a lifetime achievement award, The Hank Moes Award by the ISPE Boston Area Chapter. As the founder of the ISPE International Emerging Leaders Committee and active member for more than 18 years, Dave’s career has spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on the life sciences industry and the next generation of leaders. His leadership has helped shape groundbreaking solutions for delivering life-saving treatments to patients across the globe. But more importantly, Dave reminded us that the most important moments happen beyond the workplace. In 2020, Dave’s wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. For the next three years, their family navigated the unimaginable, cherishing every moment until her passing in 2023. Standing before a room full of colleagues, Dave shared not just the story of his career, but the story of his heart—his wife’s battle, their love, and the moments they held onto, even in the face of loss. Dave’s message wasn’t just about the importance of the work we do in bringing therapies to patients; it was a poignant reminder to treasure the people closest to us. Thank you, Dave, for your decades of leadership, your courage, and your wisdom. Congratulations from all of us on this well-deserved honor!
