#TIR roars back After withstanding the challenges posed by the pandemic, TIR operations from #China resumed in early 2023. Together with our members and partners, we activated over 15 new TIR routes in 2023, notably linking China with Afghanistan, Mongolia, Central Asia and Pakistan. TIR now connects China with more than 30 countries across #Eurasia, offering more secure transport options that are over 80% faster and 50% cheaper than other available routes. Responding to IRU and industry calls for improved driver facilities, the European Commission has announced a new EUR 60 million funding package to develop the network of secure parking across the EU. This investment builds on the EUR 141 million allocated during the previous legislative term, which supported the development of some 70 truck parking facilities. The Commission is expected to announce another EUR 320 million in funding by September 2024. IRU has called on the Commission to develop a medium- and long-term plan for establishing a comprehensive network of secure parking across the EU. Read more ➡️ https://go.iru.org/Jd #RoadTransport
