🔺The collective response of 🇺🇳UN agencies is critical to supporting sustainable development in 🇸🇸South Sudan.
The International Labour Organization CO Addis delegation, led by Director Khumbula Ndaba, had a productive meeting with Ms. Kiki Gbeho, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, UN Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator for South Sudan. During the meeting, Ms. Gbeho provided an insightful overview of the complex humanitarian and development landscape in South Sudan, where internal conflicts, floods, an economic crisis, inflation, and regional geopolitics continue to pose significant challenges. Despite these obstacles, she emphasized that opportunities for meaningful development work exist, particularly in areas like healthcare, education, food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience. The ILO is committed to supporting these efforts and will strengthen its participation in technical teams focused on these priorities. Additionally, the ILO will collaborate with other UN agencies to collect essential data, including employment and labor data, for strategic planning. The collective response of the UN agencies is critical to supporting sustainable development in South Sudan, and the ILO looks forward to contributing to these important initiatives. #SouthSudan #ILO #UN #Development #HumanitarianAid #Collaboration #SustainableDevelopment ILO PARTNERSHIPS Peter van Rooij Fanfan Rwanyindo Gilbert F.
