Do you know how international standards are made? 🤔 🤝 It’s team work! Experts from around the world come together in technical committees to develop clear guidelines and best practices for a wide range of products, services and systems! 🗨️ They discuss, review, and agree on what should be included to ensure standards reflect their collective wisdom and industry needs. 🌐 International standards are voluntary! But when they’re used, they help ensure that products and services around the globe are safe, sustainable and interoperable. 🚀 To make IEC standards even more accessible and user-friendly, a number of valued-added products are available, such as commented versions. CMVs contain comments from the experts who developed the standard, making it easy for users to understand the changes between the new and previous edition of a standard. Electronic products are everywhere—from phones 📱 to appliances 🏠 and medical devices🏥.We rely on them to work safely and as expected. But how do we know the testers are qualified? The #IECEE Peer Assessment Program is key to ensuring Certification Bodies (NCBs) and Testing Labs (CBTLs and CTFs) consistently apply our standards, rules, and processes. This builds confidence among participants and strengthens trust in the marketplace. The #iecee Peer Assessment Program is our tool to ensure that participating Certification Bodies (NCBs) and Testing Laboratories (CBTLs and CTFs) which operate in the System apply Standards, Rules and Processes consistently. It supports building confidence among participants and the market place as well as trust in the Mutual Recognition! To enable this we need training for our Peer Assessors, and that's exactly the purpose of this Training here in Beijing! We do have a strong participation of around 200 Assessors from our Asian region. #iec #conformityassessment

It all started with a peanut bar. In 1946, engineer Percy Spencer was testing magnetrons—devices that generate microwaves—when the snack in his pocket began to cook. Intrigued, he placed popcorn kernels nearby, which exploded across the lab. That discovery led him to file a patent for using microwaves to cook food. #Didyouknow? Microwave ovens must meet strict safety and performance standards, which are constantly updated to reflect new technology and market shifts. These ongoing reviews ensure they stay safe and reliable for everyday use. IEC have a number of #InternationalStandards for microwave ovens. Businesses embracing Industry 4.0 are leveraging technologies like AI and the IoT for automation, predictive maintenance, robotics and efficiency. While these advancements enhance employee safety by reducing dangerous tasks, they also introduce new risks such as programming errors and data concerns. As we transition to Industry 5.0, the challenge becomes clear: how do we keep humans safe as machines get smarter? IECEE Certification of Personnel Competence \(CoPC\) ensures that personnel have the skills and knowledge to safely interact with machinery. Based on ISO/IEC 17024, it empowers national certifying bodies to assess competencies across various sectors. 📣 Join our "IECEE Certification of Personal Competency \(CoPC\) & Cybersecurity of Domestic Appliances \(IoT\)" webinar to learn more: ⏰ 3 October 2024 at 12:00 UTC 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eMuytaXs #IECAcademy #Standards #InternationalStandards #IECevents #Webinars #Cybersecurity #IoT ##SmartManufacturing #Industry40

🔌 Cable chaos ends here! Starting end of 2024, USB-C will be the universal charging port for all mobile phones and portable devices in the EU. Charge any device, any brand, with a single charger! ⚡Thanks to the work of IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) together with the USB Developers Forum and CEN and CENELEC and the hundreds of experts around the world who have contributed to making this possible. The 'common charging' requirements will apply to all handheld mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, headsets, portable speakers, handheld videogame consoles, e-readers, earbuds, keyboards, mice, and portable navigation systems as of 28 December 2024. #GlobalImpact #USBc #chargers #EU #EUCommonCharger #EuropeanUnion #Sustainable #Innovation
One charger to rule them all 🔌 Less than 100 days until the common charger rules come into effect! From 28 December, all new handheld electronic devices sold in the EU will be required to use a USB-C charger. It means: 🔹 One charger for all your devices, no matter the brand 🤖🍎 🔹 Possibility to buy a new device without a new charger 🔹 Harmonised fast charging technology 🔹 Reduced e-waste by 980 tonnes yearly. These requirements will also apply to laptops as of 28 April 2026. Learn more → https://europa.eu/!hwjj3G #EUCommonCharger #EuropeanUnion
