🌿 On the second day of the nexBio Amazônia program, the group visited two of Pará's most traditional extractive crops: cocoa and açaí. They spent the day learning about the history, production, and market dynamics while learning about the sustainable solutions pioneered by riverine entrepreneurs who intelligently harness the Amazon rainforest's abundant resources. 🤓 Did you know that Pará is Brazil's largest #cocoa producer? This industry is driven mainly by riverine communities, family farmers, and indigenous people. It currently generates over 300k direct and indirect jobs, an essential sector in the local economy. 💪 🥣 This day was important for our entrepreneurs, offering them deep insights into the traditions and market evolution from crop cultivation to product consumption. Today, they will participate in workshops focused on biodiversity, sustainability, and innovation, delving into the Amazon region's complex concept of #bioeconomy. ⭐️ Keep following for more updates on their journey through northern Brazil! 🤝 nexBio Amazônia program is a partnership between Swissnex in Brazil with A Fundação Amazônia de Amparo a Estudos e Pesquisas — FAPESPA, Sesc, Fiocruz Amazônia, Institute of Management in Latin America - University of St.Gallen, Instituto Peabiru, and Pólen - Laboratório de Gestão em Inovação.
