I want to highlight this statement from our dear friend Professor Izet Masic MD, PhD, FWAAS, FEASA, FIAHSI, FEFMI, FACMI that illustrates the cover of the first #EFMIinside March 2020. The phrase is included in a 2013 publication in #MedicalArchives. In these times of newcomers to “Digital Health” and “AI in Health” supposed “experts”, the phrase demonstrates the vision of this pioneer. On 28 August, we had the chance to present two of our latest research articles at #MIE2024 organised by #EFMI EFMI-European Federation for Medical Informatics in #Athens. Firstly, we presented primary results from the vCare Project where we could show the basic advantages of the virtual coaching solution as a digital health intervention to support older adults in home rehabilitation (see: https://lnkd.in/dzxABZcq). Second, we showed the results of a scoping review on digital health empowerment in hip arthroplasty surgery, leading to the results that holistic and integrated approaches to patient care are needed - the mission ActiveTEP is dedicated to (see: https://lnkd.in/dUextn5a). Thanks to the organisers and audience for being able to present and discuss our results!

Our colleague Julia Gehrmann presented her work on data quality assessment in real-world cancer data sets at the #MIE2024 conference of EFMI-European Federation for Medical Informatics. Understanding the problems of data quality in medical data is critically important not only for data modelling but also for optimizing the data collection pipelines. Johanna Schwinn vom Universitätsklinikum Augsburg hat heute auf der #MIE2024, Konferenz der EFMI-European Federation for Medical Informatics einen beeindruckenden Vortrag über die Potenziale von Federated Learning (FL) im Vergleich zu Centralized Learning (CL) und Local Learning (LL) gehalten. 🌍🇬🇷 𝙀𝙉𝙂𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙃 𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙎𝙄𝙊𝙉 𝘽𝙀𝙇𝙊𝙒 👀 In ihrer Studie untersuchte Johanna die Wirksamkeit von FL bei der Vorhersage der Sauerstoffsättigung (SpO2) bei Intensivpatienten auf Basis von fünf großen Datenbanken.
