#AI is not synonymous with autonomy. Its benefits are far more immediate and are already making a tangible impact. Hanneke Weitering reports (https://lnkd.in/dsB_d2nF) in the November issue of Aviation International News on AI in operations and pilot training as well as Daedalean's certifiable traffic detection system, which detects both cooperative and noncooperative traffic. Enjoy this overview of a few ways AI is advancing safety and efficiency in aviation. #artificialIntelligence #aviationsafety #avionics

We knew business aviation faces unique challenges like operating in and out thousands of uncontrolled airports all over the world, managing flexible flight schedules, and handling formidable pilot workload, while consistently maintaining a high level of safety and providing exceptional service for demanding customers. Likewise, we were aware the workload of pilots operating in business aviation is uniquely demanding and complex. Without regular schedules planned well in advance with plenty of ground support, business aviation often requires pilots to adapt to last-minute changes, varied flight routes, and a wide range of airport environments, including less-equipped, non-commercial airfields. And we have heard from pilots that they frequently manage multiple flights in a single day, often at irregular hours, creating cognitive and physical strain. They are responsible for the complete operation of the aircraft, including navigation, communication, weather assessment, and systems management, often with minimal ground support. But a week removed from the biggest #businessaviation event, National Business Aviation Association-BACE in Las Vegas, our contingent of Bas Gouverneur, Dr. Yemaya Bordain, Dr. Joschka Hoefling, and John Mora, having recovered from a frenetic few days, now have the chance to reflect on what we newly gained from the experience. What we discovered was how receptive and, indeed, enthusiastic business aviation professionals are to the early adoption of new technologies. After several keynotes and panels, multiple meetings, and countless chats, it became clear that the sector is eager, able, and prepared to explore, assess, and adopt technologies that increase safety, improve economics, and expand capacity. But is it any wonder? Business aviation faces unique challenges while consistently maintaining a high level of safety and providing exceptional service to demanding customers. We have already started working with pioneering aerospace company Eclipse Aerospace to improve safety and lower pilot workload on its 550 very light jet (https://lnkd.in/eHJAXgFm). We are now looking forward to continuing to grow the new relationships we initiated in Las Vegas. Sometimes what happens in Las Vegas, extends far beyond Las Vegas! To commemorate this year’s NBAA-BACE, here’s a little #Friday video (https://lnkd.in/dpEkkzH3) looking back on last week’s events. #AI #cockpit #aerospace #BizAv #NBAA2024

Hugo Silva will deliver how Daedalean is "Lifting the veil on machine learning development assurance" at the "#ArtificialIntelligence Applications in aeronautics, defence, and space" conference hosted by the Académie de l'air et de l'espace - Air and Space Academy and taking place at the Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile (French Civil Aviation Authority) in Paris. Hugo will participate in a session on trusted AI and certification in #civilaviation along with distinguished colleagues: Guillaume Soudain (Programme Manager Artificial Intelligence, EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency), Gary Davis Brown (Aircraft Advanced Safety Specialist & AI referent, Airbus), and Jean-Louis Dufour (AI team, Safran). The session will be led and moderated by Eric Parleon (former Vice-President Airworthiness at Thales and former Experimental Flight Test Engineer Centre D'Essais En Vol and Académie de l'air et de l'espace - Air and Space Academy). The session is November 13 starting at 2:40 PM with Hugo remarks scheduled for 3:00PM. Both remote and in-person attendance is possible. Coming off an exciting week at the National Business Aviation Association's BACE, we are announcing our first collaboration in the #BusinessAviation space as Eclipse Aerospace, Inc flight tests our #AI-enhanced visual traffic awareness system. Eclipse has outfitted its next-generation very light jet (VLJ) Eclipse 550 with our cameras and computer to decrease pilot workload and increase safety during the critical phase of flight, including proper runway identification, traffic awareness, landing guidance, and the ability to identify runway incursions. Testing continues in the American Southwest over Eclipse’s headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are grateful for the coverage provided by Aviation International News. We look forward to delivering the results of the testing in the weeks and months ahead. #NBAA2024 #cockpit #aerospace

Autonomous flight will phase in over many decades and use cases. But today the building blocks can be seen and experienced already. Alexei Masterov's presentation will offer you an opportunity to look at the state-of-the-art technologies from this angle: not just what they are capable of, but how they will stack together to gradually lead from assisted flight to autonomy. See you in Santa Clara!
Don't miss out on speakers like Alexei Masterov of Daedalean AI on "The Building Blocks of Autonomy" at The 5th Annual ASTM Autonomy in Aviation Symposium. Taking place November 12-13th in Santa Clara, CA, the symposium will bring industry leaders and experts together to explore system-level considerations in integrating autonomy into aircraft. Agenda and registration information at: https://lnkd.in/eVz-j5Tv Special thanks to our silver level sponsors Northrop Grumman, Daedalean AI, Reliable Robotics Corporation, ATMECS Global Inc, and Wing Aviation, along with bronze level sponsor Aero Systems West. #aviation #aircraft #aerospace #UAS #autonomy #AI #artificialintelligence

It's inspiring to see a high interest in the new AI-based cockpit technologies by the helicopter industry at Dubai Helishow | Exhibition & Conference. We have received plenty of attention for Kalin Stoyanov's presentation with the story of Daedalean's test campaign with Leonardo and at our booth, where we are talking to various visitors representing all types of General Aviation and business aviation operations from all the EMEA regions. It is really motivating to see how they are seriously and thoughtfully exploring the benefits offered by the innovation. If you are at Dubai Helishow, visit our booth to look at our product and talk to Kalin, Sylvain Alarie, Shadi Saad, and Marco Barnobi.

This month, we once again welcomed a delegation from EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency for the next Stage of Involvement (SOI) audit, marking a key milestone in the certification journey of our PilotEye. Alerting to traffic that is cooperative or non-cooperative (such as birds and drones), PilotEye is a visual awareness system set to become the first certified application in civil #aviation to use machine learning and computer vision. Over the span of three days, the delegation collaborated with Daedalean’s experts from the Safety, Systems, Software/Hardware, #MachineLearning, Data, and Management teams. They participated in technical briefings and engaged in discussions with our team to evaluate the progress of our product development. We greatly value the feedback offered and commitment shown by the #EASA team during its visit. The audit represents a critical achievement on the road to product certification, and we remain fully dedicated to maintaining the highest quality standards in our development processes. #LearningAssurance #Aerospace #SOIaudit

Do you know how #AI-enhanced visual awareness can improve safety for rotor and fixed-wing aircraft? If you're attending the Dubai Helishow | Exhibition & Conference this week, Daedalean's Kalin Stoyanov will detail on Tuesday how Leonardo Helicopters flight tested our systems to find out. If you can't make it, or just want to make the most of the talk, here's an extended look (https://lnkd.in/dT4bkfEs). #helicopter #eVTOL #machinelearning #ML
