This October, Chiquita has re-committed to the fight against breast cancer in collaboration with the American Cancer Society and other NGOs around the world. For the eighth consecutive year, the brand will replace its iconic Blue Sticker with a Pink Sticker featuring the Pink Ribbon on bananas worldwide, symbolizing solidarity in the global movement against breast cancer. Chiquita 'Small Change, Big Difference’ campaign is promoting healthy habits and encouraging prevention: by changing her iconic pose to one where she is performing a self-examination, Miss Chiquita leads by example, encouraging women to make small changes in their lives, such as leading a healthy lifestyle and regularly planning medical screenings, to spread the message on the importance of prevention and early detection. We are proud to enter a new age of banana cultivation by introducing the revolutionary, Yelloway One. This is the first prototype of future Yelloway varieties, resistant to the fungal disease Fusarium Tropical Race 4 (TR4) and partially resistant to Black Sigatoka. Developed in partnership with KeyGene, MusaRadix, and Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the Yelloway initiative's mission is simple but powerful: to develop banana varieties that are resistant to the diseases endangering the world’s banana supply while keeping the beloved look, taste, and shelf life of the Cavendish banana. Follow along for updates on Yelloway One and our continued commitment to sustainability and biodiversity!
This week, Yelloway, the banana breeding initiative of Chiquita, KeyGene and MusaRadix, supported by advice from Wageningen University & Research, presented Yelloway One to the press. Yelloway One is the first 'prototype' of future Yelloway varieties. It is a triploid hybrid banana from the Yelloway breeding program. Yelloway One is resistant to the fungal disease Fusarium Tropical Race 4 (TR4) and partially resistant to Black Sigatoka. Read the news item on KeyGene's website: https://lnkd.in/e9S33MPs

What do Minions AND Moms have in common? They both have just one thing on their minds: Bananas! While Minions are known for their insatiable love of the “peel good” fruit, moms are bananas for the nutritional benefits, including fiber, potassium and vitamin B6. Building on our ‘It Peels so Good in Every Era’ campaign, see how Chiquita is celebrating Illumination's “Despicable Me 4,” to bring happy, healthy energy—AND MINIONS—to the back-to-school season. https://bit.ly/3zkbUj7

We’re bananas over this story shared by the Carter Burden Network! Bolivar Bajana (“Boli”) recently celebrated his 100th birthday, and he attributed his good health to eating a banana a day 😉 Before he migrated to the U.S., Boli lived in Ecuador, where he worked at a fruit factory that is now Chiquita and probably had the chance to eat a lot of bananas. Happy Birthday, Boli!

And that every bunch of Chiquita Banana is covered in blue bags from Plantation to protect it from sunlight?
