The purpose of the Foundation is to support and promote the mission of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, and disseminate its benefits to the wider public. The Foundation operates nationally and internationally to pursue its mission, across three main areas: Education & Outreach, Innovation & Knowledge Exchange, and Culture & Creativity. Since 2018, the CERN & Society Foundation also supports and promotes the operation of the Globe of Science and Innovation, notably through its use as a venue for scientific exhibitions, conferences, meetings and public debates. Our main objectives are to: 1. Promote public understanding of science and the various ways it affects our daily life; 2. Encourage and support young people’s interest in the subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, with an emphasis on physics and engineering (STEM); 3. Improve people’s lives by means of innovative technologies; 4. Build capacity in developing countries by providing people with scientific knowledge and tools; and 5. Foster creative synergies between science and culture, stimulating inspiration and enriching the cultural landscape. Since 2017, the Foundation Board has decided to focus its efforts on projects targeting Youth & Education.

Beamline for Schools is a physics competition for high-school students from all around the world, inviting them to propose an experiment that they would like to perform at a particle accelerator. I would like to share my wonderful summer experience at CERN as part of the CERN Summer Student Programme 2024. It was truly unforgettable, filled with engaging lectures, hands-on project work, and, of course, an inspiring community. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to my supervisor, Asar Jaradat, for always being ready to help. It was an honor and a pleasure to work under your guidance! I would also like to give special thanks to the CERN & Society Foundation for making it possible for me and other students from Non-Member States to participate in this program. Knowing how many incredible individuals have had the chance to grow in their fields thanks to your support, I want to say that your efforts truly make the world a better place. A big thank you goes to Ernest S. Zakrzewski for always being there to help us with our questions and for being a fantastic coordinator. I’m also grateful for the opportunity to be part of the GLCxCERN project team, and I hope our collaborative work will yield great results.
